The role of the environment in our Community, whether built environment, nature, food growing, sustainability, innovative technology or Community places
Twice a day, every day, eating with the same people — it's a very central bond.
I was a kitchen focaliser for about four years. I took on that role because my children were small—around six, and ten—so after school they could come into the kitchen and be with mom. The Community Centre (CC) became like a second home to us.
The Community Centre was always a very, very important part of my experience coming here, so I've got some great memories.
I thought it was a thunderstorm at first, so I went round to the other side of the house to have a look — and then I saw it was a fire.
Ecovillage Findhorn is an internationally recognised model of sustainable living, combining environmental responsibility, community wellbeing and local economic resilience.
As heavy machinery breaks ground on Ecovillage Findhorn's Field of Dreams, Michael White shares a thoughtful, personal reflection on landscape, community change, and grounding our vision in the physical earth.
The final manifestation for that year [1970] came in the form of a new home for Peter, myself and our three sons.
This compilation shows images of the Community Centre from as early as 1971 all the way through to 2022.
This compilation was put together from the archives after the Community Hub Initiative = CHI'26 Storyfest, a community consultation to shape a future community facility.
This compilation shows the activities in the CC included daily meals, workshops, festivals, and special events.

Did Experience Week in May 2004, together with my wife Eveline. The following 6 years we went to Findhorn at least twice a year, doing programmes or just staying in a B&B. We became Resource Persons and organised our own little Findhorn-inspired programme in our home-town Groningen in the Netherlands (called “Singing, Dancing, Celebrating”). We started Transition Town Groningen in 2018, which actually was Findhorn-inspired. In December 2010 we moved to Findhorn, leaving our careers and Dutch life behind.
We both did the LEAP programme and then I became staff of Findhorn College. Since 2014 I am working as a sole trader, handyman. In 2017 I took over organising Sunday Group Hill Walks from Jonathan Caddy and have been organising those since then.
