Community Facets

Access our Stories via the Community’s Facets

Our Collective Autobiography is all about Stories – stories about the Community, stories about peoples’ experiences here, and stories about how their time in the Community has impacted lives for the better. There are several ways of accessing them, and one way is via the Community Facets.

Each one of the ten facets, or categories, represents an area of activity that highlights the many aspects of life and purpose in the Community.

To create these categories, we used what we call the Eight Leaf Ecovillage Model in a slightly extended form. To determine in which categories each story belongs, we looked at how it relates to four questions:

  • WHY – Why we do what we do
  • HOW – Connecting culture
  • WHAT – Implementation/manifestations
  • WHERE – Contributions to the world

This is illustrated opposite. Each of the “leaves” or ring segments is colour-coded and represents a different set of attributes. The four broad areas above are subdivided into ten sub-categories, and these form the Facets themselves.

Each story is tagged with one or more of these categories as appropriate, and you can locate stories by means of the categories they are tagged with. To begin, click on one of the icons at the bottom of the page, or go via the menu under the header picture at the top of the page.
