It hardly needs saying that Communication is at the heart of many Community activities. Whether we’re meeting to discuss a project, or perhaps publishing a newsletter or web site, communications-related stories can be found here.
We are moving out of the ‘delightful yet overwhelming’ initial phase of poking around cupboards and diving straight into the physical, tangible work of building a centralised home for our history.
As the first archivist this community has hired from the outside, I feel a push and pull: I want to step back slightly to maintain a professional, removed stance for the work, yet I feel a deep need to immerse myself in the community to truly do justice to its history.
The idea for the investigation came when I heard someone saying "oh are you working in the library, that dusty place with old books ?"
Aim: To agree on a robust mechanism which will ensure the safeguarding of historical records across all aspects of our community.
