Community Newsletters and Magazines have been a vital means for the Community to communicate with many people around the world. From the early beginnings in 1966 when the first ones were produced on a Roneo duplicating machine, and sent to a growing mailing list, including the contact lists of both Universal Link and Attingham Park, the adult education college run by Sir George Trevelyan.

Below you can find a long list of Community Magazines from 1966 to 2008, with hyperlinks added to posts of those we have on this website.

The story of the early publications is told in The Story of God Spoke To Me which Mike Scott compiled for his monumental work entitled The Living Record which was completed in 2007.

God Spoke To Me 60s

From 1969 the Community sent out newsletters and magazines, such as Findhorn News and Expressions to a growing readership.

Early Community Magazine covers

In 1976 One Earth Magazine became the Community’s global newsletter.

There are distinct editions with a total of 76 issues:

  • 1976 to 1979 – 2 issues per year
  • 1980 to 1990 – bi-monthly until 1988 when is was published quarterly

Those two editions were published by the Findhorn Foundation.

  • 1990 – 1996 – a Community company, One Earth Ltd., took on the publication of the community magazine.

From 1994 onwards the Findhorn Foundation sent out Network News to its own mailing list. There were a total of 46 issues until 2008.

After that, websites and social media took over the role of printed newsletters.

More locally focused newsletters

Rainbow Bridge 2012The Rainbow Bridge was started in 1978. Since then it has become the weekly ‘internal’ newsletter of the Community. Initially it was considered a private publication only available in paper copy to resident Community members. The Community Association, New Findhorn Association (NFA), took over the production of the magazine, and now it is still available as paper copy but also electronically. It is no longer ‘private’ as paper copies are on sale in the Phoenix Shop and the electronic subscription is now widely available from the NFA website.

Many other Community magazines have come and gone. Genesis was a prolific publication, it produced over 30 issues in 1997/8. It was under the auspices of the first Community Association, the Findhorn Bay Community Association, and the main editor was Jeremy Slocombe. It documented the many different strands of the expanding ‘wider’ community in the Findhorn Bay area.

… and NOW

In 2026 there are a great variety of different digital newsletters published within the Community. Since 2024 we have added many of them to Community News which has become like a Community Log tracking the diversity of our Community.

And the ‘old’ Community Magazines are still being read, not only here on the website but also paper copies in the Phoenix Café. They bring the gift of history being told by the voice of the time. Having said that, one of the consistent comments we hear is, that so much in them is as relevant today as it was when it was written however many years go.
