In this conversation with Alex Wright and Danielle Macleod I share about my passion for singing as a path to unity and love, and how communal singing Taizé style became an ongoing inspiration for everyday life in the Findhorn community.

Back in ’84, when I moved here, I was looking for my tribe to do more heart-opening, community-focused singing, not only performances. In Taizé, a French ecumenical community, I witnessed 5,000 people spontaneously braking into incredible four-part harmonies and was so moved that I thought, “We need that magic at Findhorn!”

Anchoring Taizé singing here wasn’t easy. When I asked whether I could make this my work in the Findhorn Foundation, I was told “Darling you go play. We got work to do.”. But I didn’t give up and I manifested my own work as an independent member. This took me first to Germany, then to Japan and, over the decades, all over the world giving workshops. And here in the community Taizé Singing became a regular spiritual practice.

As Danielle shares, singing to the Divine is a profoundly connecting and grounding part of her day. For me, this journey has really highlighted how important intuition, patience, perseverance, and prayer are. I truly believe that communal singing can bring people together to open hearts and create a more united world.
