About Barbara Swetina
Born in Vienna, I graduated in pedagogy and music from the Mozarteum University. I play 7 instruments and performed and taught music internationally since 1987.
Came to the Findhorn Foundation Community: 1984
Left the Findhorn Foundation Community: still here
Areas of involvement with the Findhorn Foundation Community: outreach workshops since 1987, music experience week, New Years retreat 'crossing the threshold', founder and focalizer of Taize singing practice since 1987, recorded CD's, published songbooks, music teacher in the Steiner School, extensive outreach in Japan since 1991
Community leadership: Cluny kitchen focaliser 1985-1987, I became one for the first independent members, as there was no staff position created for music.
Experience in the community affected your work in the world: doing the Taize singing week after week exposed me to people from around the world, and they invited me to run courses in their places. So I got to travel the world for many years. I was the first Findhorn member to go to Japan. I went 10 times and helped to build up a flow of japanese visitors through my network of contacts.
List of publications: CD's: the Spirit of Dance, Cantiones Sacrae, When 2 or more, Songs of Heaven + Earth, Garden of the Goddess, Soulweavers, The MusicTrain Adventure,
