In 2022 my friend Marcus invited me to tell him about Eileen and my connection to her. You can listen to the full conversation in the video below.

Eileen – just saying her name brings a warmth to my heart. She was more than just a friend at the Findhorn Foundation; she was an inspiration, a guiding light.

They say Eileen was the heart of this place. It all stemmed from her “still small voice within,” this powerful intuition that led her to become one of the founders of the Findhorn Foundation. You see, Peter, her husband and co-founder, was brilliant – the logical mind behind everything, but Eileen, with her quiet wisdom and humour, was the soul.

Travelling with Eileen, as we went on a book tour of the UK, was a privilege I’ll never forget. Imagine it – being in the same car for weeks, just the two of us. Waking up each morning to her wit and insightful perspective – a woman who was intelligent without ever claiming to be intellectual. Her answers came straight from the heart, always genuine.

We shared a special connection in the sanctuary, that central space at the Park. Most mornings, she’d be the first one there, meditating. I’d follow her in, finding comfort and inspiration in her presence. It was a ritual, a quiet moment we shared that mattered deeply to both of us.

Thinking back, it’s been nearly 50 years since I first came to the community. Eighteen years at Cluny, two on the Isle of Erraid, and then back here for the rest. Through it all, the central sanctuary has been my anchor. Even now, while it’s just a pile of rubble waiting for a rebuild, the memory of that space fuels my spirit. Every morning, I’d be there, just like Eileen, seeking solace and inspiration.

Maybe I wasn’t as sensitive as Eileen, never quite grasping that “little voice” she spoke of, but being there, in that space with her, held a profound importance for me. It was a connection that transcended words, a shared dedication to the “Spirit of Findhorn”.

I want to thank Marcus Lindner for interviewing me in 2022. This allowed me to reflect on the many aspects of my almost 50 years in the community. I have been in many different positions in the Findhorn Foundation, often in leadership roles. We have collated four posts from those interviews:

And last but not least, you can see me in action in my last role, as the focaliser of the Visitor Centre. Click here for recordings of a Tour of the Park I gave in 2008.
