During this conversation with Michael Shaw I reflect on my involvement with the Community over the last 50 years.

In April 1974 I was teaching writing and para-communication in the Broadcast Communications Arts department of San Francisco State College. San Francisco at the time was a city ‘awakening’ – largely through psychedelic drugs evoking mystical experiences. I heard a talk by John White who wrote a book called The Highest State of Consciousness. The last chapter was all about Findhorn; he described the 42lb cabbages as a physical sign of the presence of God! That was enough for me to come here and find out for myself what that was about.

In the interview Michael says “Roger, you are the conscience of the Community – asking the unwelcome questions … as well as its intellectual heart.”

Since 1976 I have convened 10 international conferences each one addressing one of the many challenges of the time.

I am now involved in Climate Change work as this is for me, where it ALL comes together for EVERYONE. The Community continues to define itself largely as a spiritual community – for it to make a relevant contribution to the Climate Crisis we need to address the question whether sustainability is a spiritual undertaking.
