This conversation was filmed in 1991 when Eileen and Peter Caddy, Dorothy Maclean and David Spangler were together in person in the Community at Findhorn. I organised and filmed this informal discussion of what they recalled from ‘the early days’ and how things had evolved since.

David and Dorothy went to the USA in 1973 and Peter had left the Community in 1979. This was the first time since 1973 that all four of them were together at Findhorn, and the last time, as Peter died in 1994.

In October 1991 all four of them were together at the Abundance Conference and we took this opportunity to make this video in the series of Visionary Voices. At the time of course we did not know that this would be the last time to have all four of them together in person. Peter died in a car accident in February 1994.

The conversation offers a unique glimpse into the beginnings of the Community, as well as the way they worked together, each bringing their unique presence. They talk about the delicate balance of Love, Light, and Wisdom, with each of the original founders embodying one of these qualities. Dorothy’s wisdom grounded the community, providing a deep connection to nature and spirituality. Peter’s light offered direction and optimism, illuminating the path forward. Eileen’s love cultivated a nurturing and supportive environment, fostering a strong sense of belonging.

As they explore intimate details of their personal journeys, revealing the challenges and achievements they experienced, they emphasise their shared commitment to the vision and a deep spiritual connection, as well as the importance of teamwork, highlighting that the Community’s success was built upon the collective efforts of its members.
