Between the 29th of August and the 9th of September 1999, five of us travelled to centres of power and sacred energy in Scotland and in England on a journey that followed in the footsteps ( and tyre tracks) of Peter Caddy, R Ogilvie Crombie (ROC) and Kathy Sparks, 33 and 1/3 years before, in April/May 1966.
The inspiration for our trip came with unbounding enthusiasm and commitment from Dennis Evenson, who first incubated thoughts of such a journey ten years ago. When working with Peter Caddy on the memoirs for his autobiographical book, he found the manuscript that Peter had entitled the “un-premeditated Journey”. Therein, Peter describes the extraordinary events and experiences that the three of them had encountered during that time. The 160 page typed document details their mission; it is called Un-premeditated because they did not know that they were going on this pilgrimage, nor to where they were going at the outset (and at junctions in along the way). Judging from the reports, their journey was strongly over-lit and directed by a spiritual presence recognised by them to be the Comte de St Germain. The records of their journey often described the anchoring of energies of the Christ, and the welcoming and acknowledging of the presence and support of Pan
and the nature kingdoms. The nature kingdoms had only just revealed themselves to ROC, in fact, weeks before their journey was undertaken. As he reports it, being sensitive to ley lines and energy centres was also a new phenomenon for ROC. Clearly it was the first time that power centres of ancient Britain were responded to and interwoven with the power centre emerging at Findhorn. An important aspect of the work at that time was reported to be the anchoring in of a new energy they named the “magenta” ray.
When Dennis first read Peter’s report, he was aware of Rudolf Steiner’s teachings about the 33 1/3 year esoteric rhythms. He also knew that other spiritual teachers had predicted that within this century, the Christ energies would become more accessible and available within the etheric sheath of the earth. The first such inflow was reported to have occured in 1933.
Dennis pledged with Peter, ten years ago, to retrace their journey in the early autumn of 1999. When Peter passed on in February 1994, the determination to commemorate the journey only grew.
Our journey was not so un-premeditated, however, it only emerged who would go, and how we would travel, within a week (or day!) before we set out. Through the usual mixture of divinely synchronous elegance, four of us emerged to accompany Dennis. We followed the route and the timings of 1966, while able to add a few additional Templar sites in Scotland.
We were a remarkable combination in our own right:
Dennis Evenson, formerly of Findhorn, now residing in New York City, a scholar, teacher, with a strong scientific and philosophic academic background, well versed in Steiner’s spiritual science, and deeply devoted to esoteric Christianity.
Brian Nobbs, again with us at Findhorn, a wise elder, master craftsman and a student of ROC’s in the early 70s, readily attuned to the earth and nature energies. A grounded potter and painter, and skeptical of undue “weirdness”.
Maryellen McCabe, from New York City, an Agni Yogi disciple, esoteric astrologer, mother, involved with applied esoterics, in the arts, in progressive education, and in socially just politics. She brought her strong connection to the divine feminine into our collective focus.
Marion Leigh, healer, photographer, mother and sensitive; developer of Findhorn Flower Essences. She brought her sensitivities to the angelic realms and her extensive knowledge of various spiritual traditions, particularly the works and
reachings of Alice Bailey/Master DK.
And me, Mari. A sanguine character interested in all things, seen and unseen; and somehow able to co-ordinate the logistics and literally keep the show on the road. I drove most of the 2,000 miles as we collectively shared, nonstop for hours a day, our inner guidance and read the original group’s guidance. We sought correlations, stretching our recollections and intuitions, driven to explore how the inner and outer world really works; our fascination never abated.

A star man and an earth man and the three Marys: that was our team on the ground for the re-dedication pilgrimage of 1999. A rare and special privilege to be in the position to be, literally to be, in the presence and the power of many sacred and special places. We linked up in prayer, meditation and networking with many groups around the world. We received the overflowing love energies from a heaven-on-earth chalice so willing to overflow with blessings. We felt our task to be anchoring the light, often imaginatively plunging Michael’s sword of Light into the earth. We were honouring the places of power; we asked for the blessings to disperse widely around the earth for all purposes of goodwill and healing. In the process we all became more sensitive to the energy of place, to our own inner world and its expression in our consciousness, and with each other. It was a privilege of a lifetime.
We began with attunements, prayers for alignment and protection on our own Cluny Hill on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. We went to the 6:30am community meditation on the day we set out, the 30th of August. Our first destination was Iona. Niels and his guests welcomed us into Traigh Bhan and Niels joined us on our walk of the landscape temple of Iona. On the way to the Edinburgh area we visited Kilmartin and Kilmichael in Argyll. While in the Edinburgh area, we spent time at West Bank in Strathmiglo and St Margaret’s Chapel in Edinburgh Castle. Brian brought us to the place where Pan first made contact with ROC. We visited Roslyn Chapel and a mound as we continued further south towards Attingham Park, where Sir George Treveleyan had lived and worked. There we were met by Ruth Nesfield-Cookson, who had worked with Sir George at Attingham Park and in the Wrekin Trust. She remembered the 1966 visit and we treasured each other’s company. From Attingham we drove to Avebury, and came to stay in Glastonbury. On Sunday we followed the pilgrims route from Wearyall Hill to the Abbey, to Chalice Hill and Well, and to the Tor. It was a pleasure that William Bloom, Sabrina Dearborn, their daughter Sophie and Helen Martin could join us for parts of the day, as it was resurrection day within the 33 and 1/3 year cycle. We visited Cley Hill and Stonehenge the next day and returned to Chalice Well House sanctuary, the Tor and Wearyall Hill in our own timings, to savour the experience further. Then we launched north and spent the evening in Lindisfarne on the Holy Isle. The next day we went to the Hermitage on the outskirts of Edinburgh, as it was a favourite place of ROC’s, then connected in with St Margaret’s Chapel and returned to Fife, serendipitiously meeting up with Leona Aroha, Peter Caddy’s administrative assistant for years in the 1970s, who was coincidentally visiting Marianna Lines there. We had much to celebrate. The next morning (the 9th of September) we left early to meditate at West Bank again, then stopped by Scone Abbey and travelled back to Findhorn via Pluscarden Abbey. We completed the journey in the Park Sanctuary the next day, followed by a walk up Cluny Hill in the early afternoon and a sharing of our adventures in the evening.
We believe that this time, early September 1999, is a special time in our planetary evolution, and that a special and more vast outpouring of Christ energies is happening and experienced by many in their individual lives. This report is intended to encourage and complement whatever inklings or guidance you may have received during this time.

So INSPIRATIONAL! THE ROOTS OF FINDHORN FOUNDATION AND COMMUNITY trully felt in this articule.
What a Beautiful journey!
Thank you dear Mary for sharing this. I had the privilage of knowing you all and learn from all of you in this article. Thankyou 💕
Dearest Mari, of the times with you during our Moray Steiner School years, when I was a real newcomer, there was little time really to know enough about the Findhorn Foundation and of your involvement.. These latter years have given me an opportunity to become more deeply involved in what was the Findhorn Foundation, through which the Findhorn Eco-Village Community has evolved. I am staggered at how ignorant I was about my former employer’s true existence when I arrived and also of your deep connection with it. Thank you for adding now to my ever-growing respect for this place and also for you. What a brilliant report! With love, Judy
