SINGLE MUMS NOW

My name is Rossana and I’m a single mother of a beautiful little girl called Magdalene. Being a single mother here has posed some challenges in my experience, and also has a lot of positive aspects.

Although being far from my family and their support was challenging, and sometimes, mainly in the first two years, I felt lonely and very tired, I felt support from my dear friends. Also, having a common space (Community Centre) has allowed me not to feel isolated from the community while I was not ‘working’. Even though this community is still finding a structure that support parents, I feel very privileged to have been part of the Foundation for four years before becoming a mother and to be residential (living in accommodation that belongs to the Foundation).

I think this is a perfect place for children to grow up, surrounded by nature, by friends. They can run freely, climb a tree, be in the woods, near the sea and dunes … it is a very beautiful environment. I feel a lot of gratitude for having the opportunity to raise Magdalene here.
