During the past few months many people in the community have undergone a time of intense personal growth and self-reflection. Whatever area of life this crisis has appeared in, be it personal relationships or work departments the central theme seems to have been one of Right Identity. The pressure to know and be clear about our purpose in life has increased both on an individual and group level. It appears that the soul of Findhorn is now exerting a greater pressure on its personality as it seeks to further unfold itself. Together we form the vehicle that is able to respond to this pressure to grow. What is being asked of us at this time is for us to consciously choose to align ourselves with the purpose of Findhorn.

If we as a community are to unfold the vision of Findhorn then we must become familiar with and learn how to work the Laws of Manifestation. The first stage of manifestation has been called by David Spangler that of Right Identity. It seems that it is no coincidence that we are exploring this theme at this time. The University Hall is the first project that the community as a whole is involved in manifesting and it has been said that the state of the Hall reflects Che level of our consciousness as a community. Our aim is to complete the Hall this year. This then is our present situation. The solution to it lies within each of us and it is our blessed privilege to serve God and each other in this place and at this time.

We know from our garden experience that the fullness and perfection of the flower is contained within the seed and that growth is simply a process of unfoldment. Likewise, we can say that the vision and purpose of Findhorn is already contained within the seed that was planted fifteen years ago. What is asked of us living here is that we give ourselves totally to the unfoldment of this Centre of Light. It is a soul commitment to serve the vision of Findhorn and through this surrender to God we ourselves unfold and discover our common source of Identity.

This paper has been written at this time by the Core group in response to a need expressed by many people for a clear and purposeful note to be sounded. It is presented simply for all of us to meditate and to reflect upon how we as individuals are consciously choosing to be part of this centre.

An Affirmation of Identity:

Findhorn has been founded as a direct result of God’s guidance and the recognition of the indwelling divinity of all life. Our community is a place where spiritual laws and principles are demonstrated in the day to day life.

We are a centre of light dedicated to world service and through this service personal growth takes place. We recognise ourselves as builders of the planetary network of light, the living body of Christ on Earth.

Findhorn is a sacred centre around which a new brotherhood, the brotherhood of synthesis, can coalesce and emerge. It is primarily a brotherhood of action and dedication through service and is an extension of the Will of the Beloved.

We live in a place where old cultural and racial thought forms can be worked out and transmuted. Findhorn is a womb from which a new human culture and civilisation is being born. We recognise and work with all the Kingdoms of God present on this planet and we are pioneering an experiment in cooperation between the angelic, human and nature kingdoms.

Findhorn is a place of initiation in a modern context and is directly linked with the Western mystical tradition. It is overlighted by the Christ, the Master R., and other roasters of the Brotherhood of Love/Wisdom as well as members of the Angelic Hierarchy.

We are a theocracy, founded and built upon the rock of direct divine guidance. We all partake in the running of this Centre of Light according to the measure or quality of our attunement to the divine central vision.

Our aim is to become the embodiment of the Universal Mind.

The being of Findhorn has its own unique rhythm of unfoldment and we must seek to move in harmony with this. Any guidelines that help us to understand this process are useful. What are we committing ourselves to when we agree to serve at Findhorn? Over the years we have discovered certain rhythms that are essential for the well-being of this community. It feels right at this time that we should re-affirm them.

There is a certain level of entry, a threshold, into Findhorn which has its own set of requirements. We have found that those who can give and receive most at Findhorn are those who have had experience in worldly affairs and have to some extent explored the various areas of their being before entering the community, A certain degree of personal integration is required so that the major focus of energy can be the giving of ourselves in service. Service brings healing and allows us to experience our True Identity in action.

Our soul commitment to help build this Centre of Light has many practical ramifications. These are as follows:

Travel: New members, for instance, are asked to be physically present for the first six months and all of us are asked to make sure that we are being sensitive to our community responsibilities when we feel the urge to leave for awhile. It is felt that three weeks per year is a good length of time to be away from Findhorn, Any exceptions to this should be cleared with personnel .

Work: Findhorn is a working community. The beliefs that we hold in our hearts need to be expressed and made visible with love and joy. Our working departments are places of growth in which intense group interaction and attunement take place. Findhorn is a focal point for cosmic energies and so the working life helps us to remain grounded.

Sanctuary: The sanctuaries at Cluny Hill and Findhorn represent the heart centre of this community and are places of great spiritual power. All of us should attend sanctuary daily whether we feel we are getting anything from it or not. A great deal of inner work is carried out by higher beings to integrate us into the community during this time. By being present together in the sanctuary we increase our power to work and serve as a group.

Self-Discipline: There is a great deal of creative space for each of us to work with and we are asked to be responsible for all that we create, to make sure that everything that emanates from ourselves is for the highest good. This is maturity.
All that we do affects the vibrations of the whole and we are asked to be aware of how we use our personal time, as well. The wise use of freedom is our discipline at Findhorn. We have only two written rules. These are: (1) No smoking in community buildings and (2) No illegal drugs to be used.

Reflection: There needs to be a willingness to give and receive clear reflections from each other which are as free as possible from personality colourings.
We can be helped and help others to move through critical periods by the wise use of Light and Love.

Cooperation with The Kingdoms of Nature: Whether we are involved with the garden, the kitchen or on a building project, it is important to realise that we are working with many levels of being. Each plant species, machine, tool, group or activity has an overlighting angelic or devic presence which is responsible for holding the particular vision that is seeking expression. We should attempt in all we do to establish through a strong love and belief a working relationship with this level of reality. It is this contact with the Angelic Kingdom that helps to redeem matter, transmute emotions and clarify thought.

Custodianship: We are stewards of God’s creation. We are asked to extend our love and awareness into matter itself. Our homes, our community buildings and our working areas require our constant attention so that they can reflect the consciousness of caring. We can also help by picking up paper and by keeping the gardens around our homes tidy.

Guests: Findhorn is a magnetic centre that is powerfully attractive on a soul level. Many people are drawn here and come either as guests or members. What we all have in common is that we come to give and in that giving receive. As part of our service members are asked to welcome and help guests to integrate into the Findhorn experience so that they may share in the work of building this Light Centre.

Personal Growth: We each grow in the measure that we can accept and embody our Greater Identity. At Findhorn growth usually means stretching and going beyond the limitations that either we or our environment have imposed upon us. Findhorn is a preparatory school for world service and is interested in helping us to develop a soul infused personality. The natural expression of the soul is one of giving out and it is for this reason that the path of spiritual unfoldment here is the path of service. Service is doing God’s Will, wherever God chooses to place us.

We would ask that we each take time to reflect on what has been stated here and to take it into our personal meditations and our working attunements. On Tuesday July the 5th at 8.45 we are all invited to a joint Cluny-Findhorn community meeting in the Community Centre. This will be a time for us to meditate on and share together this vital theme of Right Identity.
