About Geoffrey Oelsner

Born Kansas City, 1949. Began writing poetry and songs and meditating age 14. Oberlin College and Aberdeen University, where I discovered Findhorn and began a lifelong journey of the Spirit.

Came to the Findhorn Foundation Community: I visited 5 times during 1969-70, while an American exchange student at the University of Aberdeen, then travelled with Roc after leaving.
Left the Findhorn Foundation Community: I left in the late spring of 1970, attending a conference in Kent at Sir George Trevelyan's with Roc before flying back to the USA.
Areas of involvement with the Findhorn Foundation Community: Work in the garden, making the first batch of compost, learning attunement and to receive guidance, and later bringing Dorothy to our town in Arkansas in 1980 to teach attunement., which I have done and written about since. In 2012 I became a Findhorn Fellow and attended the 50th year celebration. I've been back to Findhorn 4 times since 1970, once for 2 weeks, other times for a week or less.
Community leadership: n/a
Experience in the community affected your work in the world: It's affected all my environmental research, activism, writing, my work in the garden, my meditation and prayer life and especially through the Findhorn Fellows I've been able to philanthropically support some amazing work by other Fellows.
List of publications: Attunements for the Earth (2022) is the book most relevant to Findhorn, but all can be seen and accessed on my website and at Amazon.com. Of my book, David Spangler writes: 5 out of 5 stars A deeply needed book. Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2023 at a time when the earth is burning, flooding, storming, and upending our sense of normality, Geoff's book offers a chance to step back, step in, and drop down into calm and attunement to the living spirit of the world. There we find opportunities of partnership and insight that can allow us to meet this historical moment with strength and creativity rather than with despair and helplessness. Geoff's songs, poems, reports, and wisdom speak to the power and love within us to make a difference, discovering within ourselves the song of the whole earth. This is a book to treasure.
