As part of my doctoral research in social anthropology (School of Social and Political Science at The University of Edinburgh), I filmed four short documentary films to illustrate different ways people cocreate with nature.

This is the first of these short documentaries: ECOTHEATRE-HOME follows five teenagers during an ecotheatre summer camp in Northeast Scotland. Laura Pasetti, Director of Theatre of the 7 Directions, invites the students to play, reconnect with nature, and reclaim their identities with nature amidst the teen angst years and planetary crises. Ecotheatre is not just about performing with nature. It is a journey home.

This film was produced on an extremely low-budget, and would not have been possible without the generously given time, energy, and talents of those involved. Thank you!

Get involved and participate in Theatre of the 7 Directions, including upcoming ecotheatre summer camps for adults and teens!

The other films in the series:

Haven – follows Kajedo, the land steward of the Findhorn Hinterland Trust in Northeast Scotland, in how he approaches ‘deep listening to the land’, and leads a small group of volunteers in taking actions to increase biodiversity in a desert ecosystem.
