On the 19th September 2025 we gathered at Drumduan to celebrate the wonderful gift of 40 years of conscious education for our children and young people.

Forty years is a mid lifetime celebration, one honouring the phases of kindergarten, lower, middle and upper school – and well in to the after-school phases of life with higher education, failures and successes, global adventures and even some settling downs, marriages, and babies!

All of these stages were apparent in this glorious celebration of Drumduan, aka Moray Steiner school.

Superb speeches, skits, performances of song 🎶 music and dance all added to the jollity. A sumptuous feast of pumpkin pies and many other Autumnal treats made it more like a Harvest Festival – for that’s what it truly was.

A bountiful harvest grown from tiny seeds that germinated through a long process of meditation and intention.

In the mid 1980s, the first tentative shoots grew from a group of parents who met with their children and loved into existence a kindergarten in the Family House in Pineridge.

Then they slowly but surely began to organise and look for a model of a school. Their first visit to the Steiner school in Edinburgh was a dazzling revelation.

So THIS is what a school could be like .

As one former teacher summed it up in her speech: ‘Education is simply about Learning to be human … and it never ends.‘

Let’s raise a glass of champagne of blueberries , strawberries and lemons made by the children on bottles labelled ‘40 years !’ And drink to the health and wealth and future successes of the school at Drumduan !  🍷
