During the ICSA conference 2013*) which took place at Findhorn I gave a presentation entitled Why is Community so Popular in Individualistic Society? based on more than 10 years of research.
In it I explore the longing for a new kind of community and the potential of intentional communities. I explain the history of community and “the modern loss” of community in European society from the Middle Ages until today, and how intentional communities reinvent “Community” in a new manner, integrating individual and community with innovative forms of membership circles, for instance.
*) Conference of the International Community Studies Association, Findhorn, June 26-28.
