THE GRANDFATHER

Christmas was the one time when Findhorn would not receive guests. However, in December 1976 Peter Caddy organised offering two events, dancing every evening in the Cluny Hill ballroom and an ongoing dance seminar.

The whole Community had been invited to a winter solstice tea party in Cluny dining room. Suddenly music was heard, voices became subdued, and a grandfatherly figure was seen standing amongst the tables, waving a small white handkerchief. He began to move gently through the room swaying forward and back with a fast growing chain of people holding hands behind him. Then the figure with the white scarf and the chain that followed him were seen to disappear from the room. When the whole of Cluny’s ground floor had been blessed by their dancing feet the figure with the white scarf and his long dancing chain emerged again into the dining room amidst hurrahs and laughter. Who was this gentle grandfather who made everybody feel part of one large family? The dancer-choreographer Bernhard Wosien!
