OUTBREATH

The Communications Committee (internally referred to as Outbreath) was responsible for anything breathed out by the Findhorn Foundation, namely publications, audio and visuals, PR, tours, presentations and so on. I joined the Committee in October 1976 as I was working in both Publications and Visuals, and became Chair in March 1977.

The Communications Department grew out of that committee’s work, and I was able to persuade Peter Caddy that we needed an internal newsletter as a tool of communication. He agreed and the Rainbow Bridge was launched in September of 1977. It was so named by me referring to the Antahkarana, vis-à-vis the rainbow bridge connecting spirit and matter. Peter Choy Chin and John White ‘ran with the ball’ and it was a lot of work back then (no computers, all cut and paste). There was a special edition (it was possibly the first) printed specially on the press for the October conference that year; I kept a copy for years. I remember the headline was Communication – Community – Communion.

In November 1979, as part of the Communications remit, David Earl Platts and I restructured Friends of Findhorn (administered up to this point in time by Mary Stanton) into the Resource Persons Network. The vision was that Resource People would be more committed and active in carrying the light and holding the energy for the planetary work of the Findhorn Foundation in their home areas.
