Maintenance mishaps
After six months in Construction, I moved to Maintenance where the skill levels were not quite so high. We had various mishaps – like when I disconnected the soil pipe under one caravan without informing the occupant. I had just managed to squeeze under the caravan and was lying underneath it, when I heard someone sitting down on the toilet right above me with a bump. There was no escape. I banged on the floor above me and screamed: “Don’t flush”. Fortunately she heard me.
One of our group, while fixing oil-fired central heating in a caravan, hadn’t finished the job lunchtime. He wasn’t sure what to do about an open oil supply pipe. Then he had a flash of inspiration. He popped into the food shed and found a big potato, stuck it on the end of the pipe, and went to lunch. only to return to find, unsurprisingly, the caravan, which was occupied by mother with two young children, flooded with oil making a big mess and causing a lot of distress. We learned by trial and error under the tutelage of our patient and endlessly humorous and patient focaliser, Tony Mitton. As always in the community, we started work with an attunement, standing in a circle invoking the love and support of the subtle beings. We needed them in Maintenance!

I come from a Moray family, although I grew up primarily in England and North Wales. I first came to Findhorn in 1951 and it has been a constant in my life ever since. I love Findhorn, in all its many facets. I joined the Foundation community in January 1976, and left to live in London in July 1979. I worked in business in London. mostly green businesses, and later as a green financial adviser. I burnt out with ME in 2002. Since then I have been involved in writing, and trauma healing, initially for myself, and later with others.
