In 1995, I first came in touch with intentional communities, just after finishing school in Germany. I was deeply longing for projects which created a positive, free, just and loving society. I always followed this in my study of geography and sociology when I started researching these communities as experiments for more sustainable ways of living.
Combining this with my spiritual seeking, I was fascinated when I heard about Findhorn. As I started to work on a doctoral thesis on these communities, I chose Findhorn as case study and came in 2005 for two months.
My doctoral thesis on Findhorn, Auroville and five communities in Germany was published in 2008 in German.
I got involved in Global Ecovillage Network and was attracted every few years back to Findhorn to research and network with GEN people.
One interesting outcome was the critical turning points of several ecovillages, also Findhorn, I was researching for a larger EU research project over several years, called TRANSIT. I want to very much thank those members who contributed.
