ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

We first heard of Associate Membership of the Foundation when we were doing our Experience Week in 1980 and this rang a bell for both Diana and myself, that this was the way for us to be here as part of the Community – a part of it but independent and able to follow our own path. At that time nearly everyone in the Community was a part of the Foundation. One of the requirements was that we should join the Foundation Orientation Programme, which we both did when we moved up a year later. It took people a bit of time to get used to a family moving up and even buying a house, and then not joining the Foundation. But doing Orientation was a great help for us in being known – something which many who came later and did not do Orientation struggled with. In fact we were the only members in that category!
