THE IONA REPORT

A report of the events
surrounding the reconsecration of the Sanctuary at Traigh Bhan

This is a report on the reconsecration of the sanctuary at Traigh Bhan, a house on Iona formerly belonging to Jessica Ferriera, donated to the Findhorn Foundation. It is in two parts. The first part sets the scene, giving a brief description of the meaning of power Centres and a look at Iona, its history and significance in New Age unfoldment. The second part describes the events of September 28th and 29th, 1972, including the journey to Iona and the ceremony itself.

PART I — INTRODUCTION: POWER POINTS, THE ETHERIC WEB AND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF IONA

To understand the significance and nature of the work done on Iona on St. Michael’s Day, September 29, 1972, it is necessary to have some understanding of the concept of power points within the earth and of the etheric webs of energy enclosing our planet, for which such power points form centres of physical contact and linking. It is also necessary to have some vision of the work done at these centres in ancient times to tap the energy of the inner planes, as well as of the work now to usher in new energies at this dawning of a new age. Therefore, we begin this report with a brief discussion of these points.

 

A. Power Centres and the Etheric Web

Anyone who has used a compass is familiar with the concept that the earth has a magnetic field which encompasses it. Expeditions into space have also demonstrated that the earth has a field of gravity; that is, there is an area in space within which the gravitational influence of the earth operates. Astrophysics tells us of different kinds of fields of energy and radiation that envelop our earth. What we call the etheric body of the earth is such a field, an aura of energy which gives vitality to the physical planes of the planet. The etheric body of a man is also known as his vital body; it is the source of energy transformations that sustain what we call life. When the etheric body or energy field separates from the physical, then death occurs; the physical body loses its cohesive, organized character and begins to disintegrate into its component elements.

Likewise, the earth is surrounded by its etheric field or vital body which can receive energies flowing through the cosmos or from higher, dimensions of vibration and transform these energies into qualities capable of nourishing and vitalizing the denser matter of the physical level. The etheric field, then, is the source of the basic, primal creative energy from which physical forms are built and from which they are sustained in being.

This field is criss-crossed with lines of power flow just as a country may be crossed by high-tension electric lines, which link together centres of energy concentration, called power points. Seen clairvoyantly from one level, this network of lines gives the impression of being a web, hence the phrase, the “etheric web of power.”

Britain has centres where energy is transformed from one form into another and then broadcast throughout the country along its electricity lines. These centres are the generating stations of the Electricity Board. Energy from coal or water (Hydro-Electric) is converted into electricity. These centres represent points at which the energy of electricity enters into the life of the country and is made available for use in homes, businesses and factories. It is important to understand this principle: the energy was always available as coal or water; the so-called generating station is simply a man-made device for transforming the energy from one form into another that is more usable or accessible.

Also, within the human body are centres of contact with the etheric body and through that, with higher levels of life. These are called the chakras. They are points through which energy of a higher level is transformed into vital energy which the physical body can use, and then distributed throughout the etheric and physical circulatory network.

Just so, within the body of the earth, there are these power centres. They are of different natures, depending on the kind of energy they transmit. Some are magnetic or planetary power centres. These focus, assimilate and transmit planetary etheric energy. Cosmic power points receive energy from universal sources and transform them to planetary requirements. Then there are centres attuned to certain special kinds of consciousness, life or energy, such as nature power points, attuned to the life and energies flowing through the elemental and devic (angelic) kingdoms of nature (these are often found in wilderness areas and may be uncomfortable to humans); spiritual or religious power points, which are places such as shrines attuned to the energy of a great spiritual consciousness such as the Christ or the Buddha, or to the energy anchored by a saint, and so forth. Often, these power points coincide. A spiritual teacher may, for example, use the energy of a cosmic power point to establish his own centre of radiance. This is what St. Columba did on Iona, and it was a common practice amongst the ancient adepts and initiates who had knowledge concerning these power centres and the etheric web.

A power centre is a place where the energies of two or more dimensions or patterns of evolution converge and where the barriers between them are thin. This makes it possible for a consciousness on one dimension or within one pattern of evolution to more easily pierce that barrier, contact the other energy and give it access into his area of life. When this access is stabilized and there is a steady transmission of energy from one level to another, or alternatively, when the gateway between the two dimensions is stabilized so that any sensitive, knowledgeable person can pass through it in consciousness and tap at will through attunement the energy of the higher level, then we say that the energy is anchored. It has been brought down, lowered in vibration (though not in potency) so that contact is made with a denser realm of life and then that contact firmed up so that it is relatively permanent and not sporadic.

An analogy to this is the sea-coast. Where the coastline is high cliffs and rocky barriers, you can see the ocean but you cannot reach it. However, at points, the coastline drops away into bays and inlets where beaches give you an opportunity to enter the water. Power centres are inlets and beaches where a person can touch in consciousness currents of higher energies playing upon the earth.

If a power centre is properly tapped or anchored, its energy can be liberated in a controlled fashion into the surrounding life. This energy can then be used to enhance and bless or in some fashion influence the physical life of the area. Thus, a spiritual teacher may tap and release the energy of a power centre, adapting it to his use, directing its flow through his consciousness in such a way that a holy spot and influence is created, that is, a spot where less sensitive people can touch a spiritual influence and be blessed by it. In more ancient times, when man had knowledge now not available, the release of this etheric energy could be used for actual physical work, such as manipulating boulders, helping crops to grow, etc., or it could be used for communication. Part of the mystical science of ancient cultures, such as the Atlantean and its off-shoots, the Druids, the Egyptian, the Mayan, and so forth, concerned the art of finding power centres and harnessing their energy flows to human purposes. Work was also done in tracing the links between centres, the lines of the web, and activating them for the purposes of the priests. It should be said also, the priests knew the secrets of creating power centres and links, anchoring through their lives and actions energies from higher levels and linking these centres up with others, both natural and man-made.

Human consciousness, being essentially divine, when revealing its divine attunements, can raise the level of energy flowing along the etheric web and thus spiritualize the area of the web under its influence and consequently the physical matter associated with it. Thus, in ancient times, countries became girdled with lines of power activated and flowing under the influence of human attunement and linking centres of power, represented on the outer as centres of religion or government or learning or of hidden retreat. When this was done for good, the influence on the countryside was one of great upliftment; when these primal energies were tapped for negative, selfish reasons, then dark energies, perverted energies would be released. In this way dark centres of power, centres of evil, came into being. Some centres became focal points for both, as the primal unity of the neutral spiritual force was sundered by human consciousnesses into twin aspects of light and dark, each attracting its complementary influences.

Because of great upsurges of evil in times past, some centres were closed down, the energies withdrawn lest they be perverted; others became restricted; certain energies became stored, that is, lifted to a higher dimension and sealed there until they could again be released through the power centres without danger. In other instances, energies were tapped from the cosmos by the teachers of the human race which were out of timing but which would be needed for future work. These energies, like seeds, were also stored at certain power centres until in time, they could be released along the etheric web. Other powerful centres continued to function, though clogged and made ambiguous by the presence of both light and dark energies. Of course, throughout the centuries men and women of sensitive consciousnesses have continued to anchor or activate power centres, some of which were useful for a time and then became closed down. The history of all this is too complex to be discussed here, but enough has been said to give a general background picture.

 

B. The New Age: New Energies and the Christ

For many years in Britain and elsewhere, people heated their homes by burning coal and lit them by oil, then gas lamps. With the release of electrical power, electricity replaced these lesser forms of energy to a great extent, particularly in lighting. Devices which served perfectly to release the energy of coal, oil and gas cannot release electricity; you cannot plug in an oil lantern and expect it to light. Likewise, trying to use oil or gas in devices designed to use electricity will ruin them. New energy requires new channels of release, just as, in Jesus’s statement, new wine requires new bottles.

The New Age is a release of new energy. It represents for the planet an unfoldment equivalent to that time in a man’s life when his soul takes a tighter grip over its lower vehicles and his body, emotions and mind all become orientated to the direction and life of the higher self. At such a time, the person ceases to have a personality, in the sense of a veil or mask between himself and his true divine nature. The lower vehicles that make up the personality become direct channels for the manifestation of the consciousness of the soul. This, of course, releases into the body a surge of new energy and vitality, of new direction, creativity, vision and life. This is what is happening to Earth. What could be called the personality level of the planet is falling away, being transmuted; old thought forms and complexes of energy existing on the inner planes of the etheric and the astral and lower mental, corresponding to neuroses within the human psyche, are being erased, transmuted, brought to the surface and cleansed. In the place of this, new levels of energy are coming to the fore, taking charge, resulting in both a cleansing of the etheric body of the earth and the revelation of a new body, of higher etheric energy to handle the more powerful new forces entering the planet … like changing the fittings from gaslight to electricity.

Where power centres are concerned this means the formation of new centres, the withdrawal of some old ones, and the cleansing of other ancient points of power. The new centres, like electric lights, are those attuned to the new energies now flowing through the body of Earth; these centres (and Findhorn is an example of one of them) are built up around people whose consciousnesses are attuned to the new and can anchor the new energies within themselves. They are also built up around cosmic and planetary power points which are attuned to the higher frequency energies.

In ancient times, man attuned to power flowing through sacred points within the earth’s being, and through this he began to understand more of the mystery of his own nature. In the New Age, attunement is made to the life and presence of the divine soul within oneself, and through this attunement, with the soul of the planet. New Age power centres are places where a complementary action takes place between man and plant: each person invokes and manifests the life of his divinity, thus anchoring power of a new kind into the surrounding environment, and the power flowing into the centre from the planetary divinity makes it easier for individual attunement to take place.

The value of the New Age centres is that they are developing around people and places relatively uncontaminated by the thought forms, energies and patterns of the past. They are contact points with the newly forming etheric web of what might be called soul energies or higher-frequency etheric energies more capable of transmitting and receiving the power and life from the planetary soul. Not being part of the old web of power lines and influence, these new centres are not faced with having to overcome the inertia and ambiguous energies from past patterns. This provides a freedom to help build that web and to anchor ever more fully the energies of the new etheric levels, forming the new etheric body of Earth, a body of higher vibratory expression. As this takes place, the old level will be transmuted or will disintegrate, the older etheric body and its web of energy being absorbed and transmuted and disappearing into the new.

Toward this end, many ancient power centres, having fulfilled their function and being attuned to energies too identified with the characteristics of the old web are having their energies withdrawn. Like gaslights in a house converted to electricity they are being turned off and are turning cold. Their ancient channels of power will still be present for awhile and the “Old Gods” or energies sleeping within them could be reawakened, but to do so would be to release forces whose timing has passed and which would thus be evil in their present-day context. The wise leave such ancient centres alone, knowing that through the very course of planetary transformation they will either be transformed or will become dead, the energies to which they were attuned no longer part of the earth’s pattern, having been transmuted to a new level. Thus a new world is being born and shall be born and an old world, an ancient world of energy and force, is dying and falling away, like the worn-out chrysalis of an emerging butterfly.

However, some power centres cannot be withdrawn. They are the physical contact points of great beings who have overlighted human evolution since the dawn of time and will continue to do so. These are centres in whose energy fields is stored the wisdom of the ages and the seeds of the future. During this transitional period, these centres provide bridging energies between the vibrations of the new and the vibrations of the old, energies along which the best of the old and the new can blend and manifest the perfection of God’s evolutionary plan. These centres are also tinged with darkness from the past; since they cannot be turned off, they must be cleansed and reconsecrated, re-attuned. The energies of the new potential within them must be freed to express and cleanse. These centres, manifesting New Age energies in increasing purity and power, will stabilize the whole unfoldment of the new and will make possible the harmonious merging of the past and future within the creative present. These are major power centres on the basic etheric web, part of which the ancients tapped. Renewing and transmuting these centres will renew and transmute the old etheric web of power to a great extent and allow it to merge and become one with the new. This will prevent a great deal of dislocation and instability during the transition from one planetary cycle to another.

Furthermore, many totally New Age centres, though growing in power, still have limited influence due to being off the existing etheric web of energy. These centres can influence the world, but by channelling and linking their New Age power with the energy of the major yet ancient planetary centres, this influence becomes truly world-wide and greatly augmented. Therefore, one function of the New Age centres is to be points of contact through which cleansing and reconsecrating energies can flow to purify the ancient centres and release their greater planetary power.

In Britain, Glastonbury and Iona represent the two main planetary centres, key points on the old web yet representing timeless energies and potentials as much of the New Age as of any other. The cleansing and reconsecration of these centres represents a major objective.

One final thing must be said: during the time of Christ, many planetary centres of power were activated by him and charged with his life and energies to be used in these days, for the New Age represents a time when the majority of humanity will pass the first initiation and experience the birth of the Christ within. Certain centres were charged by him to hold their energies until this time and then to release them to prepare the way for his coming within the hearts of men and the mind of humanity. Other centres,, like Glastonbury and Iona, which had been ancient centres of power utilized by the Atlantean adepts, were consecrated to his energy and became points of focus for the distribution of the Christ Life through Britain and indeed, all of the world.

Now, the Christ energies, are being released in many ways, and certain ancient centres attuned to him are revealing their stored energies. It is in his name and the name of the Christ consciousness within humanity that these ancient centres are being reawakened and reconsecrated, that all might know that the Son of Man again walks the earth and the sons of men might know that they are one with him.

 

C. The Significance of Iona

Iona was at one time the centre of western European civilization. Isolated as a small island off the west coast of Scotland, protected from the ravaging horde of barbarians sweeping over the remnants of the Roman Empire and plunging Europe into the Dark Ages, this island became headquarters for St. Columba and his monks. There, in the fellowship they shared, the knowledge of Christianity and of civilization was kept alive. From Iona, the missionaries went forth into Britain and Europe, carrying the light of Celtic Christianity and of civilization.

For two centuries the holy men, drawing on the spiritual power and inspiration of this island, kept western civilization alive. Here books could be copied in safety, teachings collected, the light of mind and of faith kept burning.

Furthermore, being so isolated, this centre was less exposed and kept more pure from conflicting conditions than other spiritual centres in Britain, such as Glastonbury. Its veneration as a shrine through the centuries has added to its spiritual power, anchored there in Atlantean times by priests of the Sun, who in anticipation of our time invoked the energies of the Solar God and beamed them westward to the new worlds beyond the sea and east to the cradle-lands of Europe.

Iona now is a major planetary centre of spiritual power, attuned to the Christ. Consecrated by its solitude and isolation, relatively free of darkness, though parts of the island still are dark and karmically involved in the past, this island is a key for the release of new energies throughout the planetary web, energies of new civilization, to be given to the world as it has done before.

A clue to the significance of Iona in this time of unfoldment may be gained from the story of Jesus and his baptism, when the Christ descended into him. This descent was symbolized by the appearance of a dove which landed on Jesus and a voice which said, “This is my Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Since then, the dove has symbolized the Holy Spirit, the Presence of God, the Beloved and of the Christ.

Iona means “dove” in Hebrew, while “Columba” means dove in Latin. Iona is a centre of radiation; its power point radiates light to all the Earth. It is a spiritual messenger. Like the dove that announced the coming of the Christ, the descent of God into Jesus, Iona is the dove-energy that represents the descent of the Holy Spirit, the energies of attunement with the Beloved, into humanity and the consequent birth of the Christ consciousness. While this consciousness unfolds, Iona and its energies will overlight and protect it, being the herald of the New Age, a beacon of light for all the world. It is within this symbolism that the significance of Iona in the release of New Age energies may be found.

Other information received from higher levels of consciousness also deals with the significance of Iona and the place this island is to play in New Age unfoldment, as well as of the need for cleansing within this centre. Thus, Elixir received on September 28, 1965 the following vision:

“A great darkness came over the whole of the island and I saw two great waves washing right over the island until they met in the middle and broke. Then the water ran all over the island and as it drained away, all that was impure was washed away. It seemed as if there was a sort of radiance, a light, which came from the very depths up through the ground from this cleansing. There was nothing but the pure left on the island; it was like a jewel.”

The following day, St. Michael’s Day, 1965, Elixir received another vision, this one clearly suggesting the link between Findhorn, Iona and Glastonbury.

“I say the Archangel St. Michael. He had a foot on Glastonbury, a foot at Findhorn and a sword pointing to Iona, as if uniting the three.”

To help the cleansing work and to establish a point of light upon the island, John Walters, an individual with considerable attunement and awareness of the greater plan, was guided to acquire the St. Columba Hotel near the Abbey and later the Argyll Hotel. Through the years, often against opposition, he has made the hotel a centre of light and has worked to create harmony and greater understanding upon the island. On October 20, 1965, on Iona, Elixir received:

“John is to bring great peace and unity to this island, but it will not come easily. Where there is great light, there close at hand you will find great forces of darkness ready to step in and cause trouble. He must keep on his toes all the time. Peter will be like a right hand to him if he will let him.”

A close relationship has developed between Peter Caddy and John Walters, leading to much helpful interchange between the two centres, helping to fulfil prophecy given concerning John’s work and also concerning a link and work which Peter had in connection with Iona.

In 1966, Peter and two others made a journey under guidance that eventually led them throughout Britain to all the major power centres within the country.[1] The purpose of this, they discovered, was that one of the powerful cleansing and preparatory energies from higher levels needed to be anchored at these centres, to begin a purifying work and to prepare for a future time when Christ energies would be released from these points of power. This energy was called the Magenta Ray and was associated with the power of the Master often known as the Lord of Civilization. This ray was released at various points upon Iona, and in the days that followed, it did have a tremendous cleansing effect, bringing a great deal of personality discord to the surface where it could be dealt with.

On Iona lived a woman of sensitivity and attunement, also dedicated to the New Age vision, who had established a small sanctuary in her home, Traigh Bhan. During the visit of Peter and his two companions to Iona in 1966, one of these two described a vision:

“I saw the white dove of Iona with a branch in its beak. It was circling the island seeking a place to rest. The only house that was open to it was Jessica’s where it flew into her sanctuary and settled down quite contented in a ring of gold. It had difficulty in entering the Abbey.”

This was an interesting vision for two reasons. First, it confirmed what John Walters had discovered and what other sensitives had perceived: that a centre for a greal deal of inertia and conflict upon the island was within the ancient Abbey itself. Narrow religious attitudes that limited a spirit of wider cooperation and sharing of energies hindered the flow of higher forces into the life of the Abbey, while the thousands of visitors coming to this place during the summer also had a draining effect, for they came to take, not to give of themselves to restore the life of the centre. In this context, one of Peter’s companions received the message from a high level of being that the true light and power of Iona was not contained within the bricks and mortar of the Abbey but within the stones and soil and trees of the whole island itself.

The second reason the vision was interesting was that it indicated the receptivity and openness of the sanctuary at Traigh Bhan.

In 1972, the Findhorn Foundation began its cycle of expansion into world service. Founded in 1962, this centre and community had gone through a nine-year cycle of preparation and of becoming firmly established. On the outer this expansion took the form of increased public contact through conferences and lectures, television and magazines, and through the reaching out of the community in art, drama, music, craftwork, literature and so forth. On the inner, this expansion was marked by an event which fulfilled an older prophecy that Findhorn and Iona would be linked as one: Jessica Ferriera, the owner of Traigh Bhan, gave her house and sanctuary to the Findhorn Community to be used for the spiritual work of the New Age.

What might this work be? Surely, it would be in the release and radiation of New Age energies throughout the world, anchoring the descent of the new planetary etheric body, opening the door for further revelation, and cleansing and transmuting the old etheric and astral patterns from the past. Thus, the work at Traigh Bhan would have international significance. This was confirmed in an interesting way through a series of letters received from an individual highly skilled in inner plane work presently working in New Zealand. A letter from the secretary of the Findhorn Foundation, Dorothy Maclean, to this individual briefly mentioned, “We have been given a house in Iona which has a powerful sanctuary, and a group will be going over there soon to put it in shape.” This brought a quick reply.

“Your note in your letter of 30th July that Findhorn has been given a house at Iona is of the deepest significance. It is the seal upon your work; you have emerged from the cocoon of Findhorn. Iona stands at the head of one of the very great webs of power that lie across the world. Now that your spiritual nursery has grown, through the schoolroom to university, it would explode if it could not flow out into wider channels. These webs are very close to earth vibrations and form the inner structure of worship the world over, where the priests know what to seek. Now that this alignment is complete, power will flow.”

The writer later amplified these brief statements with information relevant to this report. However, before quoting it, a bit more background must be given about the establishment of the power webs. When there is a new release of energy, as there was in the days of Atlantis and later in the time of Christ, and as there is now, a new web is created, radiating out from the points of new revelation. In some cases, as we have already seen, the centres of the new web coincide and are the same as centres upon the older one; in other cases, they are not.

When the power web was established in Atlantis, the priests and adepts of that culture went out to other lands, sought out the appropriate planetary and cosmic centres and linked them up. This, then, introduced the new energies into that land. From these points of entry, a power web for that land could then be built up, allowing the new energies to be tapped and externalized to meet the particular conditions, characteristics and needs of that land. In other words, someone trained in attunement to the web of one country or level of energy would carry that energy and attunement within his consciousness to another point and there release and anchor it. A human analogy to this is the concept of ordination and apostolic succession through which spiritual energy is passed from one person to another across space and time through the laying on of hands and blessing.

In our time, this work continues as individuals of attunement and inner knowledge transfer the links from established centres and lines of power to virgin territories, such as from Britain to America, New Zealand and Australia. In fact, it is interesting that occultly Britain is like a hub, for into it flowed many of the power lines of the ancient world and, in the days of the British Empire, from it has flowed other lines of influence along which the wisdom of the ages can flow. In recent years, lines of power have been taken from Britain and anchored elsewhere, awaiting the time when the ancient web of force in Britain would be renewed and cleansed, becoming a channel for New Age energies, thus catalyzing the work in these other lands, such as New Zealand. Hence the importance of Britain, through which practically every major power line on earth passes or with which it is linked, and hence the importance of Iona, one of the major centres of Britain. With the reconsecration of the sanctuary on Iona and the anchoring there of higher energies, forces can be released throughout the world to signal the start of a wide-scale unfoldment of New Age work and providing the energies to support and nourish that work. Thus, our correspondent writes:

“I saw very clearly, many years ago, the deliberate taking of the physical power link from Atlantis to Britain, linking it to the old network that had been used for power in Atlantis. Ancient Britain was then wired with its basic force field. Later initiates and priests built their temples and later churches on the various points and branches of this force field. These buildings and sites as used over the centuries by man have had chequered histories. The light is still there but its channels are sadly blocked.

You developed Findhorn off this network, for purity’s sake. You drew down your own light and inspiration, which was and is of a different vibration. The vibration of that old network that was handed on by the Atlantean initiates belonged to man up till the Piscean age concluded. The idea of the apostolic succession is valid in this deeper mystery. There is no break in the flow of the life force, inspirational force, flowing to man. It simply changes, becomes more refined; it is to be of a higher wavelength.

Now that you have made the decision at Findhorn to ‘go public,’ which in a sense is what your expansion is, you are obviously ready and are preparing to funnel your variety of light. Thus your sanctuary at Iona seems to be the physical place where you can flow what you have brought down through the planes to near physical levels at Findhorn. This flow will bring the New Age vibration into the ancient structure of light that lies over Britain and the world. This structure is amoral, basic, of nature and of the Creator. That man has damaged it does not concern this particular operation.

As I see it, the force that is flowing through Findhorn, because of all the preparatory work that you have done, is about to be used to change the tempo, or the rate, of whatever part of the old British pattern is to be used, and certainly, (at Iona) that part has now been added.”

The writer then spoke of certain work unfolding in New Zealand, awaiting only the anchoring of the new energies at Iona to “set the seal on it.”

This material, given to us by a sensitive consciousness in another land, is more than confirmed by guidance received by Elixir close to the date of the ceremony:

September 12, 1972: “Iona is opening up and will open up more and more until all darkness and negativity has been swept away and it is a centre of pure light. There are many places of power which have been lying dormant for a very long time which will be reactivated now; this will become more evident in the days ahead. This reawakening will take place first in this country and will then spread to all countries all over the world. All has been made ready and now is the time to be ready for anything to happen at anytime. These are truly glorious days. You will find many new people will be drawn to help and find their rightful place in the Plan; they have been prepared.”

On September 14, 1972, a message received by Elixir indicated that certain major spiritual work in America “will not come into fruition until these three main power points in Britain (Findhorn, Iona, Glastonbury) have been firmly established and reactivated, for it is from these points of power all else will spring.”

On September 22, 1972, Elixir had a vision in which she was shown the birth of the Christ and the release of his life and energies throughout the world. “It was as if the waters which broke were Iona and that brought on the birth.” She heard the words, “And the old shall pass away; behold, I make all things new.  Have no preconceived ideas. Simply let the New unfold. A tremendous cleansing is taking place to release the new Christ energies.”

This, then, is the background and some of the guidance behind the journey to Iona, showing briefly the promise and aura of new life that surrounded the consecration of the sanctuary at Traigh Bhan, its planetary significance and the joy of new birth that attended this event.

 

PART II — IONA AND THE CEREMONY AT TRAIGH BHAN

In Part I, the analogy was drawn of the power station that converts the energy of coal or of water into a higher form of energy, electricity. The principle at work was that this energy was always available in some form, but as man developed, he discovered more efficient means of tapping it and releasing it, as for example progressing from coal to electricity. The generating stations where these transformations occur are generally built near the primary source of energy, such as near a river where water power can be tapped.

Likewise, the energy of the higher levels is universally available; we each possess within ourselves the latent consciousness that is capable of tapping it. We are each of us potential centres of invocation, transformation and radiation of cosmic power, spiritual power. However, some people and some places are closer to the sources of higher energies and around them develop centres of influence to which others are attracted and from which others, not so sensitive, can still draw on the power from spiritual realms. When such a spiritually-attuned person blends his energy with that of a spiritually attuned place, great energies can be released.

Iona is such a place. It has always contained the potential of releasing New Age energies. However, human consciousness was not always able to perceive or respond to these energies; it could, using our analogy, perceive the coal but not the electricity. Nevertheless, by tapping such power as could be used and understood and by using it to raise consciousness, the time was brought nearer when greater energies could be released. Once these energies could be released at one major distribution point along the etheric web of power, then the entire web would be affected, heightened in vibration and made more capable of releasing similar higher forces.

At Findhorn, being a centre attuned to new age energies, the angelic, elemental and human consciousnesses within the community have all become more responsive to such energies. Thus, they are more capable of invoking them. By using Findhorn-trained consciousnesses as anchor points, and as catalysts, it would be possible to release such energies from the Iona power centre and to stabilize them so that henceforward Iona would be a world-wide centre for new age revelation.

However, in the many centuries during which Iona has been used as e centre, it has had its share of negativity and has known conflict. This has created on the island an overshadowing energy of darkness, as well as there already being an overlighting presence of light. Further, being a major centre on the ancient power web, it shares to some extent in the generally negative encrustation of the web. It should be remembered that these etheric energies are neutral; they can be used with wisdom and balance or they can be misused and perverted. Either way, after-effects of light or dark cling to the web. Therefore, in order to release the new energies and to protect them, a cleansing work needed to be done at Iona, reconsecrating the centre and thereby releasing a cleansing light into the web as a whole.

There were, therefore, three objectives to be achieved during the ceremony on Iona: first, to release and anchor a cleansing, purifying energy within Iona, an energy identified with St. Michael. (Appropriately, the ceremony was conducted on St. Michael’s Day.) Second, to link Iona, an ancient centre, with Findhorn, a new age centre, in such a way that the power and life flowing through Findhorn could blend with Iona and strengthen it, purify it and invoke the new age energies through the Iona centre; and so that the great light and power of Iona could flow to Findhorn to uplift and bless it as a centre. Third, to invoke the energies of the Cosmic Christ into Iona and from within Iona (stored there on the inner by the Christ centuries ago), releasing the light and life, vision, love and power of the New Age, the energies of the planetary soul, transforming Iona into a new age centre; this would affect other major centres and would mark a significant release of light throughout the world. In some ways, the release of Iona, the Dove, would mark the birth of a new Christ impulse and descent around the world and within humanity.

This ceremony involved the contact with and cooperation of four powerful spiritual centres of consciousness, four angelic beings, one could say; these are the overlighting spiritual presences of Cluny Hill, Findhorn, Iona and the presence of that universal life known humanly as the Cosmic Christ. On the physical plane, the ceremony involved certain physical objects representative of these four beings, the united consciousness of the Findhorn Community, represented by eleven people in the sanctuary (including David Spangler, the celebrant) and by the members of the community who met in silent meditation and attunement back in the sanctuary at Findhorn, and John Walters, representing the Iona center of Light. These objects and individuals formed the catalysts and anchor points to invoke the energies outlined above and to complete the consecration.

 

A. Preparations

For reasons that are explained in section C of this part, the ceremony of consecration involved ritualistic aspects. It represented a form of magical operation. However, unlike the ceremonial magic of the past, this was a type of soul magic, not based upon certain forms or sounds or patterns but inspired in the moment by the particular needs of communication. For the ceremony is an exercise in communication, communication with beings representing different energies and different levels of life. The form of the ritual is inspired in the moment, arising from the attunement of the celebrant’s consciousness to higher levels where the ways and means of proper and effective communication and consecration can be seen, as in a vision. The concept of what needs to be done is intuitively there, arising as needed in the mind of the celebrant and leading him to make such preparations as are necessary.

In this case preparations were necessary before the party could depart for Iona. These were revealed within the consciousness of the celebrant, David Spangler, on September 27th, the day before the group left for Traigh Bhan. They involved collecting soil from the Findhorn garden; herbs and flowers also from the garden; candles, candle holders, bowls and a chalice, all made by Findhorn members at the Findhorn craft studios; water, consecrated in the sanctuary at Findhorn; and soil from the top of Cluny Hill, which is near Forres, about five miles from the community. All these items were blessed and left overnight within the Findhorn sanctuary, with the exception of the soil from Cluny Hill, which was left overnight in a smaller sanctuary within the Findhorn College dedicated to St. Germain, the Lord of Civilization.

A word about Cluny Hill. It is the site of a cosmic power point and Peter Caddy is its guardian on the inner and outer planes. It is a centre particularly attuned to the Christ, a place where energy was anchored and stored by him in preparation, for this time in man’s history. Numerous sensitives brought to it have had visions of Jesus and of the Christ energies and have seen the Master there. The following is one of the reports made of this centre, a contact made by a sensitive with the Christ presence in 1966:

“This is a sacred spot to which I came long ago in search of silence, peace and meditation. Here I stood and communed with the Father.”

“This place must have held tremendous associations for the man Jesus because he returned here in his Resurrection body after the Crucifixion. He is standing all shimmering gold, with the daffodils around his feet but with the crown of thorns on his head. He stands for a long time as though standing on this very spot looking out and around. He opens his hands and arms and says, ‘O come unto me, all you that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.’ He is speaking to the whole of Britain, to the whole of the country.”

“He speaks, saying, ‘In time to come these hills shall know me once again and many will come to have their faith and their souls reclaimed by me in contacts with these, my holy points of light throughout this land. This land shall become the seat of the Universe, from which shall go forth across all the world a new relationship with me, a new knowingness within each heart, a knowingness that is already there but buried by the mists of time. Whole nations must be revived, reclaimed, re-enlightened as to that which is within them all. This, the reclaiming of your earth, shall reverberate throughout the cosmos right up to the heart of me you call God.'”

Thus, there is attunement made to the ancient energies of the Christ and to the promise he stored within this centre, an attunement made the night before departure from Findhorn by David, Peter and Eileen (Elixir). Also, the angelic presence overlighting this center of Cluny Hill is a powerful being of protective light who communicates to David that his function is to protect the sanctuary at Traigh Bhan and all that is to take place there, to surround it with his energy and create a clear and protected channel for the descent of Christ energies. For this reason, soil from this hill is taken to be a physical plane contact with this being and his power.

Other preparation has already been done over the years, as has already been mentioned: the several trips to Iona by Peter and others to anchor cleansing energies, such as the Magenta Ray. Because of this advance work, all that is now required is a burst of special cleansing energy associated with the Archangel Michael before the way is cleared for the anchoring of; the new energies.

Furthermore, a work party of Findhorn people preceded the ceremonial group, having gone to Iona several days earlier and having been working (as had previous Findhorn groups since the house had come to the Foundation) in putting the house in order, cleaning it, painting it and generall’ anchoring Findhorn energies of love and beauty into the property.

 

B. The Journey to and Arrival on Iona

Early the morning of September 28, 1972, the party left Findhorn, travelling in two cars. The first held Eileen Caddy and Joan Hartnell-Beavis, who were going on a holiday for a fortnight but who were attending the ceremony on Iona first. The second car carried Peter Caddy, David Spangler and Susanne Meyer, a young woman from America who was at Findhorn receiving training for her own future work, which included work with power centres in America and elsewhere. Hence her inclusion, under guidance, in this Journey.

The trip to Iona, travelling to Oban, then by ferry to Mull where Crispin Currant, a member of the Findhorn work party, met the five travellers in the community’s mini-bus, across Mull to the Iona ferry at Fionnphort was pleasant and relatively uneventful. While waiting on the quay for the ferry to the island, David had an experience:

“Looking at the island across the channel, I became aware of a vast radiance opening out, like mother-of-pearl, from a point above the peak of Dun-I, the highest point of Iona. I saw a great angelic being pulsating with this light and seemed as well to be aware of numerous other beings attending him and distributing the light throughout the island and elsewhere. This being was definitely the overlighting presence of Iona and just as definitely attuned to the Christ. In fact, the two seemed to merge. From this being came an outpouring of love and welcome to us, which I felt and responded to with a surge of joy. It felt like a homecoming.”

“I am generally not given to such definitely graphic experiences as this, though I am used to contacting beings of a subtle nature. This contact, however, was extremely strong, clear and definite and provided the link I needed with the Life within Iona in order to perform the ceremony.”

“Interestingly enough, when I landed on the island contact with this being faded. It would come back at times, and I could bring it back if I concentrated on communicating with him; however, I was just as aware on the island of waves of oppression and an eerie negativity. By having had that initial contact with the Iona Presence or Angel beforehand, before entering the negative aura of the island, I was able to rise above such obstructing feelings and maintain the attunement needed. This enabled me, in spite of apparent negativity, to realize and be at one with the essential and permanent spirituality of this very sacred and beautiful spot.”

Later, David described this experience to John Walters and was told that one other person, Rev. Kenneth Cuming, Chairman of The Churches’ Fellowship for Psychical and Spiritual Studies, had had a similar experience while staying on Iona, becoming aware of the Angel overlighting Dun-I.

The party was made very welcome by John Walters and lodged in the St. Columba Hotel. A conference had been running there the previous week and the last of the conference members were still there. That evening, after having visited the house at Traigh Bhan and being welcomed by the other Findhorn people there, the party returned to the hotel for dinner. Afterwards, John led Peter, Eileen, Susanne and David to the Abbey to see it lit up with candles prior to evening service. A short meditation session was then held in St. Columba’s Shrine, a small Chapel just to the left of the main entrance. Here David discussed his impressions of the darkness within the Abbey and his awareness of an overshadowing thoughtform that seemed to be trying to possess the Abbey and its light and hold it for itself. The very walls seemed lifeless. A preliminary prayer was held, invoking the power of St. Michael and seeking to communicate with the inherent divine life within the very stones and wood of the Abbey, invoking that life to come forth and overthrow the darkness.

After this, the party ascended Tor Abb, a hillock in front of the Abbey where stand the remains of Columba’s cell. This is also the location of the cosmic power point. Here, too, an initial tuning in was made.

The following morning, St. Michael’s Day, September 29th, David arose and went to the Abbey alone at 7:00 am. There he wandered through the Abbey, locating certain points where the darkness seemed particularly heavy and invoking cleansing energy upon them. He also went back to Tor Abb and communed for a time with the Presence overlighting the power point, invoking cleansing energies again and directing them to the Abbey. After a time, it seemed that the atmosphere around the Abbey had lightened somewhat.

At 7:30 am, John Walters led David, Peter, Eileen and Susanne to the Hermit’s Cell, a centre of nature power. David did not attune to this readily but turning to a neighboring ring of stones enclosing an area underneath a wall of rock, he perceived a glow, a golden light emanating from a being who appeared to be a solar angel, a deva of solar fire. Entering this second ring, they entered what had been an ancient Druid Temple of the Sun, where at the equinoxes, the priests had witnessed the light of the sun line up between certain standing stones and had invoked and anchored the inner light of the Solar Logos. In this place, there was great power and light. David experienced a sense of being home, attuning to a familiar energy, one at the same time very ancient yet timeless, an energy of great peace and promise, an energy that seemed to be stored to move westward into the new lands and new civilizations. A meditation was held for the purpose of invoking this energy and the cleansing energy of the solar fire devas upon Iona and out into the world and for the purpose of acknowledging and giving thanks to the solar being who was present.

At this point, note should be made of the guidance which Elixir received earlier in the morning and which Peter shared with John, David and Susanne before they left for the Hermit’s Cell:

“My beloved, this visit to Iona has far greater significance than any of you imagine or even dreamed of. It can be likened to a great can opener which is being used to open up that which has remained closed, so the Light which is there can be released to cleanse and purify this sacred isle. The Sword of the Archangel Michael will be used and this will pierce the darkness, breaking the membrane to release the cleansing waters and bring forth the birth of the New.”

“There has been great darkness on the island but the darkness will go. Realize that with great changes a stirring up takes place, a seeming revolution. This is where unshakable faith, trust and belief are essential, and the ability to see beyond the immediate, beyond the surface into the very depths and the very heights and to know with that deep inner knowing that all is indeed very, very well and working out according to My divine Plan. With all that takes place this day, let there be joy, and laughter, and let the love flow freely. This helps tremendously to defeat all negativity.”

“David’s mission here has many facets and has a far greater and deeper significance than may appear on the surface. It is but the tip of a mighty iceberg and so much will spring from it. It will shake the world. So be surprised at nothing.”

With this inspiring guidance, the party, now including John Walters, proceeded to Traigh Bhan to begin the ceremony and to fulfil all that had been promised and foreseen.

C. Introducing the Ceremony

Twelve people participated physically in the ceremony; many others throughout the world participated in attunement and in spirit. The success was due to all these people: the Findhorn Community; the sanctuary at Avalon and all attuned to it during its silent vigil; the Chalice Orchard sanctuary; Jessica Ferriera; the workers in New Zealand; and many others. Physically present were John Walters and from Findhorn, Peter, Eileen, Joannie, Susanne, Kristin, Craig, Crispin, Peter J., Pete and Eve, and David, making twelve people in all.

The ceremony lasted for an hour, from 11:00 am to noon, during which time all involved, except David as celebrant, maintained silence. At 10:00 am, all gathered in the sanctuary as David introduced the ceremony and explained what he intended to do and why. Much of what he said is contained in Part I of this report. John and Peter also shared concerning the history of Iona and its spiritual work.

The ceremony as a whole was divided into three parts: first, preparatory and protective work, using the soil from Cluny Hill to erect on the inner a dome of protective light about the property and invoking a spiritual guardian on the inner to watch over the property. This had to be done before anything else was attempted. Second, the ceremony itself within the sanctuary, which is described further on. Third, consecration of the house and grounds, using the earth, plants and water from Findhorn. The second part was recorded on tape.

In introducing the ceremony, David explained that he was using a ritual designed to build a communicating link with the elemental lives within the island, the nature forces of the mineral, plant, water and fire kingdoms. For this purpose he had brought soil, plants and water, from Findhorn, all attuned to equivalent elmental beings at Findhorn. However, the latter were also, through the work at Findhorn, highly attuned to cooperation with humans and to new age energies. Through them, David could contact and communicate with the elemental and angelic kingdoms on Iona, enlisting their cooperation in the invoking and stabilizing of the energies involved.

There were four candles. The first represented God, the One, his Light. It also represented the Christ, the energy of Michael and the element of fire, which cleanses the inner and creates purity. Two other candles represented Findhorn and Iona respectively. The last candle represented the light of the New Age, of the Cosmic Christ, the light going out into the world, throughout the network of energy, the light that would bring new centres to birth and cleanse old ones, reconsecrating them, the light that would be used to give birth to the Christ consciousness within humanity, birth to the New Age.

Figure 1 shows the physical arrangement of all these articles. At the head of the room was a small bay window area where a large Celtic Cross was placed, beneath a window that looked out over the channel to Mull beyond. A table placed before this cross held candle number 4. A larger table in the middle held two more candles and the bowls of earth, water and plants. A third table held candle number 1. A look at the diagram will show that this arrangement created two triangles of power between the candles: the first tracing the power flow between the One Light and its offshoots, Findhorn and Iona; the second showing the flow of power from the linked centres radiating out to ignite the New Age light within the world.

David ended his introduction by saying, “! have explained all of this so you will know and understand what I am doing as I go through the motions of the ceremony. The true ceremony exists in consciousness and understanding, not in outer ritual. We invoke the light, we consecrate the sanctuary within us, in our knowledge and belief and knowing. Then from us can pour that light which invokes the complementary reality in our environment, using these articles as physical points of contact, as well as aids to psychological contact and vision.”

 

D. The Ceremony

At 10:30 am, David and Peter took the soil from Cluny Hill and went outside to begin the first part of the work, the preparatory protective work. Communing with the presence of the Angel of Cluny Hill, which, you will remember, is himself a protective force attuned to the Christ, a guardian angel, David sprinkled soil at each of the four corners of the stone wall surrounding the property and at the midway points between the corners. This provided a physical link with this angel’s energies, anchoring them as foundations. There sprang into being upon the etheric a dome of light completely enveloping the house and its land.

This work completed, David and Peter returned upstairs to the sanctuary and joined the others. There followed a period of silent meditation. Then, at 11:00 am, David lit the first candle and the ceremony began. He said:

“Within ourselves, the Beloved lives. We are all part of the One who has said, ‘having pervaded the universe with a fragment of myself, I remain.’ From that One comes the Christ, the Light, the Spirit of Oneness drawing all creation back to its source in greater life than it knew when it went forth. From the Christ comes the will and strength of the Beloved embodied in the Archangel Michael. This is the Feast of St. Michael and we invoke his presence, the presence of truth, of light, of that piercing sword of God which, slicing through all that is of darkness, prepares the way for the revelation of light and of oneness. We invoke the elementals and the angelic beings of purity and of cleansing, the host of Michael as symbolized by fire.”

Using the taper by the first candle, David took a flame from the first candle and transferred it to the second, representing Findhorn. Lighting the second candle, he said:

“From the One come many lights, coming throughout the ages to illumine man’s pathway back to his source. We stand in the time of a new age when new light comes forth to illumine man. This light finds an anchoring and release within the center which is Findhorn: a new age flame, a new revelation come to proclaim that man and God, his Beloved, may be one and that through this oneness a new creative life and power may be released throughout the earth.”

David then lifted up the bowl of earth, attuning to the consciousness of the mineral kingdom at Findhorn and through this, with the same consciousness at Iona, summoning that consciousness into the same relationship of cooperation and new age release that is experienced at Findhorn, releasing that power into the elemental life of the rocks and soil of Iona. Then, moving up the scale of vibratory activity, from mineral to water to plant, David invoked in turn the respective elemental and angelic kingdoms, calling on them to help form and seal the link between the energy of Findhorn and that of Iona. In doing this, he said:

“At Findhorn, this light takes many forms. One form is its invocation through the lives of the elemental kingdoms, through the strength and the stability, the nourishing womb of earth. Therefore, we give thanks for the earth which forms our body and gives our souls vessels through which the oneness may express and which forms the paving stones of our path back to our homeland. With this earth from Findhorn, I invoke the blessings of the devas and the elementals of the kingdom of the mineral for that incomparable life which is the soil of the planet. May this life also find its anchoring and its release here. I invite and invoke this blessing: the power and stability, the foundation of the mineral world to join with us in this consecration and to add their power and light to that which we do.”

“The life of the One takes the form of water, waters which cover the land, waters which flow beside our pathway and give us refreshment and vitality, the waters of life to cleanse and purify and in their flowing, bear all things back to the source. Therefore, with this water consecrated at Findhorn, I invite and invoke the blessings of the angelic and elemental forces of water to add their blessings and light to that which we do and to our endeavour this day, to release their cleansing vibration throughout this centre, throughout this island.”

“The bodies that we use are nourished by the life that springs from soil and water brought together to form the kingdom of the plants, a kingdom which marks the beginning of consciousness in its quest for self-awareness and its trek back to the One consciousness. The plant reaching toward the light, absorbing the energy of the sun, symbolizes man’s own nature. He too reaches for light and, drawing it in, can use it to create new life. We invoke with blessing and invite into our midst that angelic and elemental presence of the plant world, that that within us that reaches to the sun maybe fulfilled and in this New Age, draw the light of the one sun back, back into ourselves and through us, into all the earth that the land and the seas and all that live upon them may be uplifted and transformed through the light and the love, the wisdom and the power which we, invoking them from the One, release into the earth. May the strength and light, life and purity of the vegetable world add its blessing to that which we do.”

“Through these four elements of fire, of earth, of water and of the yearning and seeking life within the plant world, and the element of air surrounding us which, breathing, gives us life, we would invite the elemental kingdoms and the angelic kingdoms of this island to join with us in blessing and to receive through the channel we create and which Findhorn creates, the power and blessing that flows into the elemental and angelic worlds as we enter a new age.”

“Thus, from the light of one centre, we share life and light with another. We ask that our light enter the life of this island and join with that of Iona. We attune to the Angelic Presence that overlights this island, which through the ages has held its secrets for man, which through the ages has overlighted this island centre as its point of contact with the earthly realms and which from its cosmic station has channelled to man the redeeming light of the Christhood, the light of the sun. The light of the Christ has gone forth from here and man has been nourished. So it shall continue to be so.”

David then lit a taper from the flame of the Findhorn candle and with this lit the Iona candle, signifying the linking of the two centres, saying:

“On this day we celebrate the Feast of St. Michael. Attuning to his angelic presence, attuning to that strength and power which comes to us from Findhorn, we invoke and invite the Sword of Michael to be placed into the use of the Angel of Iona for the cleansing of this physical point of contact. In the name of Michael we plunge the sword into this land. We release that which is imprisoned and we cut through that which binds or is a boundary to the new. Let-the darkness fall away before this light, before this sword that the flame of Iona which is the flame of man, the dove, the Holy Spirit that lives within us each, shall be released and will burn brightly for the illumination of our land.

“In the name of Michael and of the Christ, I proclaim this so!”

David then came around the middle table and entered triangle number two. Lighting a taper from each of the two candles, he turned , and lit the fourth candle. “From Findhorn and Iona, twin flames representing one light, there shall be born and there is being born a light and a flame that will go forth to kindle many centres and many consciousnesses around the world, centres now in form, centres yet to be formed. Therefore, from these two centres of light, we light the candle of the New!”

With the fourth candle lit, David stood before it, facing the Celtic Cross and the sea beyond. Several times he made a motion with his hands, pulling them down from above his head and stretching them forth, palms touching, out, symbolizing the transmission of power outward; then he would spread his arms wide as if embracing.

“With this light, with this power, invoking the presence of Michael, invoking the life and vision and power of the Christ, let that which is New be born. Let that for which man awaits, come; let it spread forth and encompass all hearts and minds in all lands, encompassing all that moves and all that seeks movement.”

“From that which is the One, from that which has been anchored and promised for man, let that promise be fulfilled, spreading with wind, with sea, with beast, spreading through the current of the earth, spreading throughout the life of this planet. Let the New Age be truly born and let man know his oneness with the Beloved.”

“From the light which through all centres springs, let that flame go forth to illumine the new centres that will be beacon posts for humanity, showing the way into the New Age. Let the flame of Michael go forth to cleanse those centres of the past which have yet a destiny to fulfil, that throughout the world of man these centres may be born or revitalized in all lands according to the will of the Beloved.”

“From the one mind and heart from which all civilization springs, just as the waves of civilization have gone forth from this island in the past, so in the name of he who is the Lord of Civilization, let these waves go forth again, carrying to man the mantle of his maturity, proclaiming that this is the time of the awakening of the Son of Man. Let new cultures and a new world be born and let all the world rejoice and all the earth be covered with its splendour.”

“From that one source from which we spring, let us, in our hearts, in our minds and in our beings, fulfil the promise planted deep within us when we sprang from the One. Let us go forth, each of us, to fulfil the destiny for which we have come, in strength, in wisdom, in light and in love, that we also may be the fulfilment of your will, Beloved, and of your presence for all the world.”

“Let no force, let no man, let no consciousness obstruct, for naught can resist that which is in timing nor that which is proclaimed through the will and the power of the Beloved.”

“Let all the world know the Christ is born within you; he comes to lead you to your home. Let it be done throughout the land, even, as it is pronounced and proclaimed!”

“For this which we eternally receive, Beloved, we give thanks. Your will be done.”

With the conclusion of the ceremony itself, there was a time of silence. Then David took the bowls of earth and plants and scattered these things about the property, invoking the consecration of the appropriate angelic kingdoms upon the land and life of Iona. The water, too, he sprinkled about, further establishing the light of protection about the property. He used it, too, to bless the rooms of the house and the sanctuary. At 11:45 am, everyone left the sanctuary and David, using the water still remaining, blessed the room and sealed it ending up at noon exactly with the final sealing of the door to the sanctuary. The room was then left closed for 24 hours to give the power a chance to stabilize itself.

 

E. Observations during the Ceremony

During the ceremony, Elixir had a number of visions:

“When David was speaking about a protective force over and around this property, I was aware of a being of light with a silver cloak and I saw the silver cloak placed right over the whole property.”

“Then when he spoke about the fourth candle, I was shown rays of light not only going out from here but also coming into the room. They seemed to be coming from the four corners of the earth. There is the most tremendous release of power and light and also a blending of the very best of the old with the new.”

“The words I received were, ‘what has taken place on the higher planes can now be manifested on the physical.'”

“During the last part of the ceremony, when David was holding out his arms, embracing all, the words of that song, ‘He’s got the whole world in his hands,’ kept ringing in my ears.”

“I was aware that what took place this morning was a cosmic experience. I beheld the Cosmic Christ in the midst of us.”

At the same time, the community was meeting in meditation at Findhorn between 10:55 and 11:15. The following was reported:

Dorothy Maclean (Divina): “There was absolute silence during the meditation, no coughs or shufflings. Every person who said anything about this meeting mentioned feeling a tremendous power and a concentrated consciousness of a high order, some saying it was the best meditation they had ever experienced. I had the impression of a triangular shape with David at the apex and all of us behind, made dark because there was light in front, and there were many angels in that light. David started to work on what could be a cable of pulsating light below … I couldn’t see what he was doing but the angels could and seemed slightly aghast at first. Then they joined in with what he was doing and when they accomplished something (mainly with their hands) they seemed to dance on the cable of light rather like loggers treading logs in water. This gave me the impression that they could now walk on earth whereas heretofore they were confined to wings and to another realm. When they had done this awhile, they showed great joy and also appreciation, came over and touched David and those behind, joining in the darkish triangle until all was light.”

Elisabeth Beattie: “I felt I was in the sanctuary in Iona, which I know, and had a wonderful feeling. All of a sudden, I was here and got two tuning forks just quivering with the vibrations, standing very erect. One was Iona, the other Findhorn.”

June Webster: “I was aware of the presence of three beautiful beings and became conscious of something that encompassed practically every single person at Findhorn, so each and every one of them individually knew that they were all being blessed.”

Charlotte Yonge: “I saw light welling up. I was looking down from a great height and saw very strong bands of light knitting up into a central triangle, and it was very powerful and sparkly.”

Janet Willis: “Entering the sanctuary, I found many already in meditation. I felt a great build up of power which was sustained and grew in intensity as perfect silence was maintained for the 15 minutes. If the power could be personified, I would say that my consciousness was most attuned to St. Michael, with the strong thought that his sword is not some magical excalibur of external intervention but that we are to be the force of light which he needs to slay the dragons of darkness.”

Evelyn Sandford: “I went to the sanctuary but arrived too late, so I sat in my veranda. Silence enclosed me. I became one with the angel of the group, our united high selves, and was aware of being in the sanctuary and at Iona simultaneously. I rose up very high above Glastonbury, Findhorn and Iona so that they were like three bright points of light close together below. Words cannot describe it but I felt the tremendous attraction of the Christ love and the power of the light and the vivid sense of being more alive than ever before. I lost all sense of time and found that I had sat there for three-quarters of an hour!”

Allan Batham (New Zealand): “I want to give you a report on what has been happening here over this very important formative or better called, initiatory period. Immediately after your 11:00 am, in the first ten minutes, we were aware of the greatest force. We were both very deep in meditation indeed, in a manner that indicated to us a removal of our consciousness far above where we are normally able to ’see’ and remember. You (Peter) and David have spoken of a cosmic initiation taking place, the physical aspects of which were very close to us. What took place then was the culmination or grounding of that initiation. The start has been made at human level of all that we, and you in particular have been preparing for.”

“In addition, I am aware of the descent of one of those great beings, possibly one from outside this solar system, who is concerned with this new age evolution. To me it seems he is concerned with New Zealand and the whole southern hemisphere. It may be that he is concerned world wide, I cannot be sure. All this seems very much like the finding of that which we have been seeking all these years, 25 or more, and it is an awesome feeling to realize it.”

The next day, September 30th, Dorothy (Divina) received:

“The natural resistance, almost inbuilt, which people have against change has been ground away. It is a mental quality which has been necessary until now, to gain stability, for the sense of oneness in each individual. When self-coherence is achieved in man, this cementing mental factor becomes almost a barrier and needs to be overcome. Now that this has been done, there is a greater flow of understanding to the mind about what reality is. From now on what you call the super-sensible worlds will carry more weight in human affairs. Rejoice and be exceeding glad.”

Following the ceremony, Eileen remarked that she felt there should have been a dove in it somewhere. John, Peter, Eileen, Susanne and David then walked back to the Abbey, where a final work was done in anchoring cleansing and uplifting energies there. On entering the St. Michael’s Chapel for a final blessing, a dove suddenly flew up from the floor behind some chairs. It flew over the heads of the party, finally landing near John, who caught it and released it outside. Eileen later said she knew this had been a sign for her that all had taken place perfectly and that a tremendous event had been revealed and completed.

Soon after this, the party left Iona, leaving on the 3:30 pm ferry back to Mull. There followed then a journey to other power centres in Scotland to further anchor the energies released on Iona.
