About John Clausen
My work and play is a dance with: Cultural Evolution/Conscious Evolution/Local Economies/Regenerative Agriculture/Healthy Soil/Ecovillage Development/Holistic Health/ Planetary Wholeness/Pickleball/Hiking/Swimming/Silence and Stillness/and my lovely wife, Frances
Came to the Findhorn Foundation Community: 1974 and bought a home which I still have.
Left the Findhorn Foundation Community: Left as a resident in 1977 but have continued to visit most years from 2-3 months/year.
Areas of involvement with the Findhorn Foundation Community: Came for a 3-year University of Light College Program which only lasted for one semester. Aside from the college courses, I worked in the garden, helped in the kitchen and was part of a group that Peter formed called “Outbreath” which met weekly to help with the legal aspects of the creative work that was being marketed outside the community (e.g. Paul Hawken’s book, Hans Paulsen’s music as well as recordings and transcripts of various guest speakers and presenters). We also served as a support group for Hans Paulsen (colorful meetings those!). I developed a love of hiking in the Highlands and started a TM center in my house and taught Transcendental Meditation to community members and a few locals and RAF people as well. Since 1997, I’ve been one of the FF’s representatives to the United Nations and an FF RP.
Community leadership: See above.
Experience in the community affected your work in the world: I’m actively committed to supporting the development of our spiritual community and ecovillage. That takes many forms including working closely with a number of “partner” organizations in inside and outside of Findhorn (e.g. Hygeia Foundation/Gaia Ed/GEN/The Evolutionary Leaders Circle). Hygeia supports about a dozen organizations in this area, many of which grew out of the FF.
