In 1968 we had received a copy of a document called ‘The Christ’ from Anthony Brooke which had been written by a young American called David Spangler. Eileen read this and said that the author would be coming to Findhorn.

In 1969 David was visiting UK and reached Forres where he received guidance that it wasn’t the right time to go to Findhorn.

A year later he received a green light and arrived in August of 1970. He had a profound impact on the fledgling community. He said it was time to begin growing people as well as plants. This was the beginning of education at Findhorn, which has continued ever since.

David was appointed as director of the College. Embryo programmes began and more and more people were attracted to the community. In fact during David’s three years at Findhorn the community grew from around twenty people to over 200. Many were young people from America. The average age was 25 and it was a hugely dynamic and creative period. Major expansion took place and a visitor’s programme was developed.

David had travelled to Findhorn with a much older colleague called Myrtle Glines. She was a wise being and taught the community about Personology. On Peter’s invitation David would lecture in the Sanctuary twice a week on a whole range of esoteric subjects.

He had a wonderful singing voice and a musical group formed in which he sang and composed many of the lyrics for their songs. They called themselves ‘The New Troubadours’ and gave concerts. David had a great sense of humour. A group developed around him and in 1973 they left for the US. They became known as The Lorians. David has continued to support Findhorn ever since with his wisdom and teachings.
