Clava Cairns
Towards the end of the year 1977 our “Free Clinic” in Heidelberg, Germany, was forced to restruct: new location, new ways of financing the project and regroup our staff.
It seemed like the time had come for me to take a sabbatical and by the end of Spring 1978 I went on a “Tour around the World”.
About 3 weeks after leaving Heidelberg with the VW campervan I stayed overnight at the Clava Cairns, completely unaware of the power of this stone circle.

Clava Cairns
In the late morning I was woken up by a group of Dutch tourists who seemed to have a great time running around the standing stones.
As I wasn’t in the mood for socializing, I got dressed and climbed onto the driver seat. But – the car wouldn’t start.
Despite all lights switched off during the night and no other use of electricity, the new battery was empty.
A few of the Dutch boys became curious and offered to give the car a push. It worked.
Thanking them and waving good bye I drove to Forres.
The mechanics of Dickson’s Auto-Garage (I think that’s what it was called) offered to recharge the battery and have me come back in the late afternoon.
I realized that I was close to the “Findhorn Community”, which I had heard of, and decided to drive out to the Park.
At the Hall, which was still under construction, I met an elderly couple who welcomed me and showed me around. At some point the woman looked at me intensely and said, that I would belong here and I should stay.
We hugged and said good bye.
I drove out to the beach for the night but I couldn’t sleep.
The moment I closed my eyes there were images of people and beings who came up, welcoming me at my new home.
Towards dawn sleep finally took over.
The following day after a late breakfast on the beach I drove back to the Park.
Just in time for the slideshow at the Park theatre behind the shop.
What to say – throughout the show tears kept flowing down my cheeks.
I was deeply moved, I had come home.
After the show i met Paul at the Visitors Centre and told him that I’d like to stay – in July!, the busiest time of the year! He told me to stick around and gave me a free lunch-ticket. Just after lunch he came up to me. There were 2 cancellations. I could choose between a one week experience or two weeks. Of course I booked 2 weeks.
To cut a long story short … I stayed much longer than 2 weeks.
