About Susanne Olbrich

Musician, piano teacher, Dharma teacher in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh. I love sounds & silence, my work explores connections between meditation, creative practice and the land.

Came to the Findhorn Foundation Community: 2001
Areas of involvement with the Findhorn Foundation Community: Teaching piano and creative music workshops; teaching mindfulness; co-facilitating Northern Lights Sangha, our local practice group inspired by the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh and Plum Village
Community leadership: Co-founded Northern Lights Sangha in 2003, still serving as one of the organisers and facilitators
Experience in the community affected your work in the world: My Findhorn community involvement goes hand in hand with my involvement with Plum Village and Thich Nhat Hanh's worldwide community. My love for and dedicated interest in mindfulness practice led me to complete a Masters in Mindfulness with the University of Aberdeen in 2020. Theme of my thesis was "Mindfulness Practice and Musical Creativity". Some years back, out of my spiritual practice grew an album of piano music, "Continuations".
List of publications: "Dare to Create! Meditation, Insight and Creative Processes in Music." Book chapter in "Mindful Heroes: Stories of Journeys that Changed Lives" (2018), edited by T.Barrett, V. Harris and G. Nixon
