The Community History Project is seeking funding support for Stage 1 of the CHP website development 17-02-2022

We are looking for seed money to be able to contract with the web developer now.

In Stage 1 the website will be designed and put up ‘private’ by the Spring Equinox – 20th March 2022.

To achieve this we are looking for funding in the region of £5000. Please see below for details.

Once we have achieved that we will be able to engage further with all our partners, seeking feedback and input for refinements of concept, structure and content to maximise community buy-in.

Our website concept is complex:

  • regular blog posts, sharing of already existing materials with links to stories and especially videos, interviews etc. This will also include updates on the Year of Celebrations both locally and globally as well as some current stories – illustrating community life in the here and now.
  • The structure of the website will make the concept of the story telling visible. There will be different kinds of stories – personal, anecdotal and Building Blocks/Pieces of the Mosaic of Our Community.
  • The Timeline, photo gallery, publications list as well as the list of ancestors and those born in the Community are all ways to learn about the Community – from a bird’s eye view all the way down the many different rabbit holes….
  • A members area where members of the resident community (past and present) can interact, for more intimate sharings, discussions and future impulses. This could include a Subscription function which will hopefully create a long-term sustainable financial strategy that will allow us to continue to add stories to the website over years to come.

All this makes a website concept which is engaging, interactive, and vibrant.

Stories will be in different media – written word, photographs, audio and video.

The concept of structuring the Building Blocks/Pieces of the Mosaic of Our Community is based on the 8 leaf/point model used by NFA, Collaboration Circle and others in the community. It is quite complex and best demonstrated through the website layout itself. In addition to the 8 areas (plus a core one) there will be dozens of subheadings to each one.

8 areas - information architecture 2022
The complexity of organisations alone can be glimpsed from the Interactive Community Map (sadly out of date now) which we will be building on.

There will be a hundred and more pages and a multitude of links across all different levels of stories.

The content of the website will evolve over months and years to come as people find that they have a story (personal, anecdote or Building Block) to tell, a unique aspect to share and most importantly to take their own place within the community of stories which represent this One Incredible Family.

Once the website is designed there will still be many ‘empty’ pages with very brief cover statement and a ‘stamp’ saying something like – There is a story to tell here – is it for YOU to tell it?
