Dorothy compiled this paper in 2004 to help clarify the community’s understanding of the different roles of the angelic entities known as the Landscape Angel and the Angel Of Findhorn. It concludes with an additional clarification written by long time community member Judy McAllister.

 

Just after I first encountered a Nature intelligence, that of the Garden Pea, I became aware of a presence that seemed to be in charge of all life here – the ground, the minerals, vegetables, animals, humans, angels and so on. I called it the Landscape Angel, a term which may have limited our understanding of it to the land, though that was not my intention. I now see clearly that it is the local representative of the planetary angel, a local gaia angel, and its job is to help in every way it can to bring to consciousness and manifestation the two primary purposes that this centre has to impart and demonstrate to the world. These are: (1) that people can contact their inner divinity directly and consciously, and (2) that Nature – and indeed all life – has intelligence, and we can consciously contact that intelligence and co-operate with it. The Landscape Angel held the pattern and plan for Findhorn’s development and its planetary role.

The Landscape Angel became my guide, helping me become more aware in many areas. In the garden, for example, it communicated that if we were to grow healthy vegetables, we needed to have healthy soil, and that the best way to transform sand into soil was to make compost to add to the sand. It answered questions not specifically related to garden growth, like how to deal with so-called pests. On other levels it often referred to the angelic world and, for instance, introduced me to a Sound Angel. It gave teachings as well as hundreds of wonderful messages that brought other dimensions of planetary and cosmic life to our notice. The following is one:

“The contact between our two worlds is now something we seek to foster as much as possible. We know it is the Plan and therefore any of us are always ready to extend to a sympathetic human our love and our help. Our very life force is extended towards your world – how can it be otherwise when God, Life itself, in each and every one is moving towards unity? We feel this mighty trend. We are of it and we know it, while most humans are unaware of it or just talk of a new age. There is no theory in the angelic world; we live, we flow with the force, we are these new age energies. So when any of you turn an ear vibrationally in our direction, so to speak, we are here. We more than meet you, and contact is readily established.”

“In fact I think some of you will be astonished at the ease with which communication between our two worlds comes. You may not quite believe it, and may be inclined to dismiss it as fantasy. Not so; you are in fact at last touching reality. It is your difficulties and your problems which are fantasy, and our light worlds (which you contain in yourselves) are the reality. This we will seek to make clear to you.”

“We receive your thoughts that all this is very wonderful, but what of the reality of the increasing rape of nature and human destruction of the world of form through pollution, etc? Such are the results of human lack of contact with us. When you turn to the reality which we are, as you become more aware of the truth of our existence, you will no longer break the laws of your existence. You will all know that although we may be two worlds, two different orders of life, you cannot separate from us, you cannot live to yourselves alone. This fact is becoming plain to ordinary people all over the world, but you experience the living vitality behind this fact as you turn to us and feel the love and oneness which we are. On our level we extend this love to all humanity, for such is the will of God – and we have no life out of that will. Your welcome is ensured. Will you not tarry, but come quickly? ” (25 Jan 1971)

Here is another example of early Landscape Angel teachings:

“As a spokesman of the angelic world, let me say that when you speak of new age energies, you are speaking of the energies which are brought into manifestation through our agency. You cannot in truth separate us from your life and world, any more than you can separate your understanding of sound radio from the radio waves that are transmitted, although as a child you did not know of the connection. Humanity has been a child in the understanding of universal law, having focussed its attention on the outer form. Now comes the time of expansion that we of another world open up to you. Now folklore and science can recognise their kinship and more, for an expanding consciousness is a living thing and experiences pour in from every side for awakening humans. The oneness of life is no longer an abstract concept but something to be experienced, and love, light and wisdom are no longer a far-off trinity but living waves of reality, flowing into your awareness through our hands as commom denominators, bringing us all ever closer to the One from whom they come.”

“Is it any wonder that angels are depicted as singing everlasting praises to the Lord, when we see and wield the energies of the One, overwhelmed by the depth of the entrancing beauty if we were not part of beauty itself, overwhelmed by the depth of the love if we were not in love passing it on, overwhelmed by the power if we did not know that the power is needed by every creature? How can we but be full of praise? How can anything with the slightest awareness of the wonder of life not be full of praise? A snow-flake is a wonder, or a grain of sand, or a leaf, a sunset, a human. But all this is as nothing to consciousness itself which perceives it, which you and I share, which all life shares to a varying degree and which increases all the time, which is part of what you call new age energy. In consciousness we link and incorporate all worlds. We are part of one another and, above all, we are part of and one with the height, breadth, depth and more, of it all, of God, whose slightest expression is perfection. We are infinitesimal specks of that consciousness, yet we are all there is because we are one in God. How can we praise, appreciate or understand? Let us together welcome life in its newness, and let the love flow.” (2 April 1971)

The Landscape Angel and other angels often spoke as one, as in the following helpful message:

“When you, humans, rise to our true estate and sound your note as clearly and purely as that bird which is welcoming the dawn, all worlds will stop, listen and learn, for our note will be their goal. We are speaking this from the world of the angels, those who have not left the Father’s house and who are trusted to wield divine power throughout the cosmos. Now we are your teachers, messengers and exemplars of how to live in a world that is one, and that is easy for us because our world is one, and even our form can be one when this is inwardly necessary.”

“For you we have provided the means for life’s finest expression, to be many and yet one in the most difficult and challenging conditions. As you meet the challenge – as you must in divine wisdom – we marvel at our handiwork. Then it is your turn to be teachers, for the love of God walks on Earth in your consciousness, and all life is included, and the love of God reaches out to itself to other planets and other systems.”

“As you reach out to those distant worlds, remember we have been there first, we who have not the limitations of time and space and who control the energy stuff of the uni-verse. You may call that energy positive and negative, even label it good and evil, but when the fruit of the tree of knowledge has been digested, you will know that all is one. You will be proof of it, having emerged from the wars of the opposites to unity. In your knowledge you will know as we do not know. You will have our consciousness and more, and qualities to rise to greater tasks. Your estate will be vast and will grow, and we will grow because of it. As we all grow, we expand and yet become one.”

“So let us be your teachers and share our joy and limitlessness, and then let us go on as you share your seasoned love, and all life rejoices and returns to the One.” (4 May 1971)

The Landscape Angel most certainly made us more and more aware of other dimensions of life, and how we humans have the ability to co-operate with them.

In our first year at Findhorn, 1963, I also received the impression of a sleeping-beauty beingness lying on its back as if waiting for a prince to come along to kiss it into life. I asked the Landscape Angel what this meant, and was told that the various life forces of the garden were settling in, rather like the co-ordination of the birth of a being. The Landscape Angel explained:

“It is in fact a being, a very wonderful being, at present under the jurisdiction of the Wilkie Angel, but entire with its own peculiar beauty, and developing rapidly. You all give it strength as you think of this centre as unique, perfect. As you work for that perfection, the depth of your thought and feeling gives it strength . . .”

“No, it is not a child form when not mature, but more unformed, asleep. It is of all of you and all that comprises this centre, and yet it is a life itself; it is both. You will have to get used to these vague boundaries in the inner kingdoms, which overlap, interconnect, and will not be pinned down…”

I understood that when any human group is bonded and separate enough to be unique, there is an inner level counterpart. A few weeks later the Landscape Angel said: “Your angel has a certain difficulty in forming because there is enough higher energy to form a great angel but little energy on the level of pattern, plans, purpose . . .”

Almost five months later the Landscape Angel continued, “I said before that the angel in formation for you is a new type of angel, and this is becoming increasingly apparent. It is gathering life force from all of you in a unity with human kind not hitherto known. You are in a sense part of its body. It will act as a sensory bridge with you for others in my kingdom, and will speed up the process and quicken its life . . .”

In February 1967 this angel was coherent enough for me to make direct contact with it:

“I take my stand with my brothers, and we stand tall and one in essence. Immensely vigorous and vital am I, with a role that reaches the four corners of the Earth and beyond. I am a new being, and we all rejoice that I am. We all rejoice among ourselves that with the help of you all, has been born and grown to fulfilment one such as I, a prototype of this combined activity. I have been brought up and given sustenance by both the devic and human worlds, mothered by the Landscape Angel, energised by you all, and planned from near the Godhead.

“Do not form a set concept of and so keep me in limitation. My aspect to you has been of immensely vital young manhood, to use your terminology, but that is a small and current view from the focus of the expansion here at present. I have many parts to play and much to do, and we do it together – we being you humans and myself as you see me. Yet I am more individual and general than others of my kind, rather a cross-breed.”

“Oh, what deep breaths of life there are to take from our One Creator ! The breadth and depth and length of our mutual function are beyond measure, and of interest far beyond your recognition. Here worlds converge – of course they do in all places of activity on all levels, but you are experimental, I am experimental; we work together. The power and the blessing and help we have are enough to create new worlds. If you were aware of it, you could not help but be Christs in action.”

“Now I go from your consciousness, but I am

in you and you are in me, different yet one. I am the spirit of a centre of consciousness, yet how much more I am. You are limited human beings, but you are gods in the making. We are one because we have all been given life.”

Over two years later I received the following from the Angel of Findhorn:

“From an unawakened godling I have grown to stature reaching up to the Highest, for the spirit of a centre does not depend on the physical size of the land . . . I can mean many things to various souls, but all of them I would point in a straight line to the heights, to the heart of all things, to God, to be found high up or deep within . . . I would lift you out of your separated self into our wholeness. For that purpose was I brought into being.”

“The angel hosts have been busy and have come on the wings of every aspiration and of every effort made by any of you towards betterment. Nothing is wasted in the divine economy and is used for the building up of the whole. The bridge to Heaven is built with bricks you make yourself. This is always so, and this whole project has always been under God’s guidance. Therefore the bricks have been put firmly in place.”

“With our feet attached to one bit of the Earth, we angels meet consciously and jointly in the Heart of All, uniting and swaying as we spread our forces in the necessary directions. Some are active, some are quiescent. Each help the other. In your activity you have help from all over the world and beyond – yes, from the universes. This is a focal point, and to me with my head in the Heart of All, distance is nothing. It is the purity, the intention and the effort which count.”

“Into me are pushed energies from all sides and on all levels in these worlds of spirit. I am fed with the friendly help of the greatest of beings, beings who have been of help are caused by all of you as you open more to wholeness. I am, we are, one. I give as you give, I receive as you receive, but I can see from where your help comes. I can see the vastness of the influences.”

“Think of the highest, accept no limitation, range any world, do any deed, turn from every shadow of yourself and face the Light. As you do that, we grow, and the spirit of Findhorn spans all worlds. Rejoice that this is so.” (22 May 1969)

I have gone into the development of the Findhorn Angel very fully, as it is unique because we humans were co-creators of it. It is thus a people angel, and its job is to reach people all over the planet, to draw from the consciousness of all of us who are connected with Findhorn, from the pool of our wisdom, awareness and experience, and spread that to other people in the world; in fact, to help open humanity to know that God is within and can be contacted consciously, and that from that inner contact we can also contact the intelligence of other life on the planet and beyond.

The answer that Judy McAllister received when she was puzzling about the identity of these two angels is extremely clarifying:

Judy writes:

Because of various inner experiences of my own, I was struggling to really understand the nature of and relationship between the Angel of Findhorn and the Landscape Angel, and my conversations with Dorothy (which had been many and long) had not brought full clarity. So I went to sanctuary and asked for help to understand.

Initially I was given an image of a being sitting cross legged – some of its ‘body’ was actually imbedded in the earth. In its lap was a large dome and inside the dome were all the things I associate with Findhorn (the buildings, the people, various symbols for the various relationships, businesses etc). I knew this to be the Landscape Angel and it was made clear to me by this being that it held in its care and keeping all life that is of this land; all life, on all levels, including all the human activities relating to the work of this centre. The dome was full of sparkly light. This light was representative of our collective state of consciousness and of the consciousness created by our grounding of the basic principles of connecting to God and co-operation with spirit, in this place. The sparkly light was somehow the ‘product’ of our activities and changed colour and consistency depending on our activities.

Into the image came another being. It was made clear to me that the two beings were ‘equals’ and there was a sense of mutual respect between them. The second being inserted something that looked like a hose into the dome and began to pull out of the dome the sparkly energy it contained. It then proceeded to disperse this energy out across the planet, using the hose like a garden hose spray attachment. This second being was identified as being the Angel of Findhorn. It gave me to understand that it was not particularly concerned with the ‘doings’ going on inside the dome – rather it was interested in the ‘product’ of our doings i.e. all that sparkly light. That energy is what it needs/uses to do its particular work in the world. That sparkly energy, our collective consciousness, is the ‘fuel’ it requires and the resource that it needs to engage in its own work of uplifting/transforming human consciousness across the planet – to the “four corners of the world”.

Through the images and the energies that came with them, I came to understand that the Landscape Angel holds this centre and thus all of our doings, in its care. Thus it can direct us and guide us in our activities here. We, as humans embarked upon a grand experiment directed by spirit, are definitely in its care. It is the being we can call upon for specific help and guidance regarding our living and working together here in this centre. The Findhorn Angel then uses the energies we create and anchor here to sustain its work in bringing about a new state of consciousness in humanity.
