When my time to leave my position of Staff Member at the Findhorn Foundation approached its end I felt the keen desire to look at my experience and see if I could distil somehow into a relatively simple framework, a Findhorn Yoga so to speak. I take full responsibility for this being my own interpretation. It is also loosely based on an Incarnation and Grail story told by William Irwin Thompson.

Of course the truth is all the incredible people I have been privileged to meet, work with and get to know. They are the meat and bones of my experience and my growth into fuller Humanbeinghood. This story is for me very close to how I experienced the opportunity offered to me at Findhorn and is as relevant today as it ever was. The Symbolic images are of course metaphorical.

The Human Condition
When I as a vast light filled being felt the call to incarnate I approached the Dimension of Space/Time as though approaching a mirrored surface. Drawn to my own reflection as I entered Space/Time I found my awareness encased in a sphere reflective on the inside and not truly aware of the world around me. Encased as in a hall of mirrors in a self-referential world where I saw reality as a reflection of my own projections and dramas. The collectively encouraged operating system on Planet Earth.

I perceived myself as a separate bubble among other bubbles all rather self-involved and unaware. I found it very difficult and painful to function in this environment. This fundamental unhappiness grew ‘til I actively sought something else. Aided by a shock from outside which punctured my bubble and showed me a greater world outside I became a seeker.

In my seeking Findhorn drew me to it from across the world. When I arrived I recognised in the discipline of Attunement a way to turn my bubble inside out. A way to transform myself through Meditation, Service and Co-Creation to become a being that was empty of drama and self obsession while being able to see the world truly without distortion. That is a sphere that is empty on the inside and reflective on the outside. Attuned.

Attuned or being tuned in seemed to be everyone’s aspiration. To see clearly what needed to be done and to do it by opening myself to capacities I did not know I had. Serving led to Focalising and then to Co-Creation in the sense that My Will and God’s Will are One Will.

This principle applied to all parts of community life.

The Core Group as the governing body governed by attunement as the guiding principle.
It was like a collection of souls who had become like spheres empty within and truly aware without which would function like the Round Table of Arthurian Legend, which was itself, the Holy Grail.

All this is a model of inspired governance. A chalice or receptacle for the Divine Will and Plan to manifest

When asked, Dorothy replied that the purpose of Findhorn’s founders was to do the Will of God. Simply That. Add to that Eileen’s challenge to learn to Love Unconditionally and I had the whole package.

Wow. I can certainly say I got my money’s worth.
