FOREWORD
“Stand, innocent, at the door of My Nature Kingdoms and ask.”
In this pamphlet Divina has shared with nature lovers some extracts from the many communications she has received from the Deva Kingdom between the years 1963 and 1968, and these explain how the Devas themselves feel about this garden experiment.
For convenience these extracts have been blended together, prior to the publication of a fuller and more comprehensive volume on this subject.
There is a gentle harmony, a simple permeating Melody of JOY, in the Wholeness of the One.
INTRODUCTION
“Everywhere forever, within and without, am I, the Love which radiates out to form all that is on all levels, something to be one with forever. I have forever been here in this aspect which is why each creature feels at home within its natural state. Gradually you are coming to a perception of My ever-present love.
“At times you wonder why contact with beings is necessary when I, Lord of All, am here to give a fuller picture than any creature could. Because unity on all levels, manifestation on all levels of My ways is the idea, My ideal, I have hands and feet on all these levels to form My patterns and work My wonders. The deva world is a particularly clear channel for My purpose, never tiring or stopping or ceasing from living in My ways and doing all this in a purity and beauty unique to it, which makes all the world wonder. Flowers, for example, speak the universal language. The deva world would not divert anyone from My ways because My ways are all that concern them and they acknowledge Me freely. Their world spans a vast range, from the highest angel down to the lowliest cell, and this vast chain is firm in its adherence to My ways.
“You say what about their reactions to human interference which has often spoiled their ways? Still they stay within the laws I have set and if human treatment causes them and their friends to rebel, then human treatment can cause them to drop rebellion. When you have your being in My love which permeates all life, you are one with each other and there is no question of division.
“So always you come back to the same thing, the one answer to all questions, which is to turn and become one with Me Who am One wilth all life. This is vital, this is real, this is the only answer to all problems, this is bringing my heaven to earth, this is solving all ills. I AM – this is all that matters. Turn your consciousness in My direction in all circumstances and cease separated thinking and then be part of My wonders coming about. My great Love is always with you and around for all to breathe. Breathe deeply in and out, uniting with all in MY LOVE.”
THE DEVAS
DEVA TEACHINGS
“We, as overseeing causative forces of manifestation, would share with you a little of our consciousness. Everything manifest is in our care and we know its state, for under God we make plain His creation. All is in our consciousness. Consciousness is an open book for all to share with us, for we are so much one that what we know is not separate from what our neighbour knows.
“How can we wholly express the light loving intention of all creation, the sparkling dynamic purpose of perfection which is the motive of all that is, some little part of which goes through our hands? How can we tell you how we dance with joy, that the sun dances and the moon dances and we dance around them and in them? The earth itself dances at heart and is beginning to dance at more than heart as man rises up out of limitation and turns his eyes back towards reality.
“In all this we are absolutely and utterly free. There is no freedom unless one is completely part of all; until then freedom is limited. For all are one, and if any believe otherwise, they are circumscribing their part in the whole and imprisoning themselves in the part.
“For example you have a garden in your care and on looking into it one day you may find that such and such has happened, that unknown to you certain growth has been made – but we know all at once and nothing is closed to us. How else could the Father count every hair on every head and care for each one individually and wholly? Our consciousness is not of our opening, it is a dipping into a sea of knowing, for all forces are connected and it is as if a loving computer links all because all cannot otherwise be linked… You have to be whole to see the whole; until then parts have to be seen separately. We see wholly with regard to our work.
“As the rain falls on the just and the unjust, we help to produce food for the good and the evil; the moral side of things is not our concern. We merely follow our destinies. This was the plan of things in the beginning before evil was and do not think that we have no feelings in the matter.
“You cannot always discriminate between us because we are so much one, and when you recognise and accept this fact we do not need to come lower down in separation for you. To you there seem great crowds of us all focussed in purity upon your earth – and indeed there are – but of course there are great crowds of human beings too, millions and millions of them of which you are not aware.
“We would say to you with one voice that our focussed attention on mankind – on you for example – is clearer that in the recent past and more precise in definition because you are beginning to respond and be aware of our activities. At this we rejoice and are glad, for the connections between us are greater than you realise and it seems strange to us that you should be unconscious of so much of your own being. Here we are talking both of your own individual being and of us who are so closely related. We see you rather like an iceberg with seven-eighths of your consciousness submerged and only an eighth alive, while we are fortunate enough to retain the consciousness with which we have been gifted and thus can plainly see our part. We are in a line of consciousness from the One Great Whole to the smallest unit of life and therefore we perform the miracles which you see in the growth of the seed for instance.
“We give you these few thought which are all part of how creation works, how a garden manifests. From the spirit which we try to convey must all be done, and we are forever one in spirit.”
LANDSCAPE ANGEL
“The great angels like the Archangels and those who brought the glad tidings of Jesus’s birth, are of a high order and are as connected with man as they are with us. They work in both lines of evolution. They are infinitely vast – I do not mean in shape but in what they encompass.
“We feel as if we are included in them, are part of them. You humans are too individualised to know that feeling but you will learn because it is part of the truth. As you lose your sense of self and become more merged with the God within, the sense of co-operating with and becoming part of a great enterprise will grow. We, for our part, really do not understand your sense of separateness nor do we want to when we look at the results.
“We ourselves marvel at the unity of nature, at the serried ranks of creation rising higher and higher into great unity and greater development of which it is a wonder to be a part. We rejoice at Life. All life rejoices when it is in tune, none more than the great angels close to the throne of the One, and praise Him for His mighty works.
“There are many units in my care, places where the owners have a great love for their garden and where ‘guardians’ exist. But always they fall far short of perfection, for unless man is conscious of the divine in him and acts from it to a certain extent, he is open to very grave error. We believe also that he must be conscious of our existence. We have such a great part to play in the formation of the worlds on which he depends that until he recognises this there is no true co-operation. Even if he has no link with us such as you have, the fact of recognising our existence forms a link unknown to him and is part of the truth on which to build. This is important. Acting from truth is always important and in your recognition of and co-operation with us we realise anew the increased play of forces this engenders. It affects us down through the chain of life; for example, the fairies even wish you could see them because it would bring joy and an extra bond – normally they may wish to take an ugly shape, if any, to humans. So it is important that we ask you to pass that on to anyone sympathetic to your ideas.
“We come ever closer to the group here. Our tendency has been to become more and more aloof from mankind, as instead of cultivating his land with simple devotion he has taken giant strides in carving it up in a single devotion to his own ends and in a world of strange values. Now, however, we are becoming interested in what you are doing, almost humanly curious in your progress!
“You have seen that we have co-operated in the garden, which is the first step, but we can assure you that to be interested in your doings is a new departure for us. What draws us is the love and light with which you genuinely try to serve and to surround each one who comes here. We, of course, always serve in altruism; in fact it is this strange blind serving of the self which alienates us from humans, especially when in it you quite regardlessly trample on any sphere of life. To see a group from which love and light spin forth so positively makes us realise that humans can indeed be Sons of God.
“You feel that if you knew the secrets of colour – why one plant is one colour and the next one different – you would understand most things. That is indeed true, for you are reaching up to the cause of things and leaving behind the world of effects, which is the sum on man’s usual knowledge. On no account be weighed down by a feeling of ignorance and inadequacy because it is that feeling that keeps man in limitation. You know now that there are these vast inner worlds and you know that you can stretch out to them because you did just then. Therefore cease lamenting and simply leave the old limiting world. There is always an invitation to the One World from us.
“It would be best to leave that new bit of land for a while. You see, in your garden it is not like digging a plot; you are almost manufacturing the soil by adding the various ingredients and these ingredients have their own radiations which have been taken out of their accustomed surroundings and transferred into the garden. Each needs to settle in and produce a harmonious over-all radiation, and we assist in that. We work over the land for you, our work is not just when the plants are added but at all times. All is radiation. More time is needed, say a week, for a good radiation to be built up and then plants will not also have to contend with many different and perhaps inharmonious wavelengths in the soil. Not only that, any new addition to the garden has to be brought into the whole. The garden is a definite unit and here again a little time is needed to embrace properly a new section into its heart.
BEE DEVA
“It is rare for humans to contact us or visualise us in any way and therefore all the more treasured. You are not to worry about the bees but take everything naturally, knowing that there is already a bond between us, that our forces are linked and that we all come under the care and loving jurisdiction of all that is good and all that is living, and that we work together under That. Relax and the bees relax and go their way in security. Let me and the bee merge in your consciousness…
“You can help them by thinking strength to them. We are glad to be able to contribute the honey. The old-time beekeepers were certainly closer to us than the new commercial ones. Use the mind if you can think for the bees but feel for them in your conduct.
“I would point out that when you tune yourself to me as you did, there will be nothing but perfect harmony with the bees, as shown today, and they will feel no disturbing influence. Do not be concerned that those supers were not touched; it has not been the season for that. Yes, it would help the swarm to be fed again. Keep an eye on it.”
FLOWER DEVAS
Blue Tibetan Poppy Deva
“Today we come in on sound like the rush of a wind and as always with the aura of our native places, a feel for the environment most natural for us. Man has taken us from this environment and spread us over the world to adorn his gardens. We are pleased with the appreciation but keep our links with the places that bred us, otherwise we should not be what we are. You take those links and classify them as ‘shade-loving’, ‘acid soil’, etc. but those are results. It is the soul, the over-all feel of a place, which influences the direction of growth. As the autumn colours of the maple are never as brilliant in Britain, for example, so is each plant truly itself in its natural conditions.”
Gorse Deva
“We stand as guardians of the dunes, guardians of encroaching waste, with roots deep in the earth and scent and colour broadcast. We keep vigil on this plane with prickles to keep out outsiders. Some plants have a higher function; we are the lowest – and yet do we not reach to the highest in this our glory? We adorn the desert, we transmute this barrenness, we lift it to the heights and yet, at the same time, we stay spanning all levels, one of God’s most useful creations. Normally you are transported by our golden glory – today we show you another side of our nature and still we keep the oneness which is the nature of all life. We keep it and shout it from every blaze of flower on every side.
“The sun comes out and immediately we lighten and lift the contact. You feel now the ripples of yellow light coursing out in continuous waves, feel it touch and transform the air, feel it run through your mind and your heart, bringing tears of gladness to your eyes. Feel the essential gorse-ness of us, which is God, GOD-NESS. Always we have this message to spread if you stop and listen and hear. You seldom stop and listen though you have heard us calling, calling over the moors straight to all open hearts. The strength of that call is almost over-powering; we are glad you answered it for it is God the Highest calling. Make no division, glory in God, glory particularly in us in season. The fact that we touch your heart so much binds our kingdoms together – and we, as guardians and transformers, should be one in our purposes for there is a world to be saved.
“You look at the wonder and the beauty of our blossoms and marvel that limited plants could communicate in this way. You forget we are part of the One Life. We do our bit in bringing Heaven down to earth and we would have you do the same. There is much to be done; join us in the one whole of all life.”
Lily of the Valley Deva
“We should love to bring our presence into your garden for we draw so much from humans in response to our sweet warmth. We link with you here and with our plants over the face of the earth in glad response to the great Giver of Life, Whose plans are so perfect, and we smile at the joyous work ahead of us.”
Lupin Deva
“We are here immediately in our pointed pillars of rainbow colours. We overlight the district brightly, we are at home here. Everywhere you go you find us overlapping into the gardens, ever present and jostling with ourselves. We sing and we expand, for this is our territory.
“We are glad that you came to us this year for we have radiant plants here, varied to catch each facet of colour, and appreciation of our co-operation goes a long way. Giving thanks is a quality humans seem rather devoid of. You take too much for granted including the abundant natural supply of the surface of the earth. We too are supplied with all the materials we need for life but we use them knowing they come from the One Source and we try to express our thanks with each petal and leaf, with each colour and shape. We are one with the elements. We know it and they know it. We act and interact with no sense of ‘mine’ and ‘thine’ for all the earth’s surface is of one family, one creation, one intelligence.”
Primrose Deva
“You have helped us to spread ourselves and we are grateful. We like to greet the spring in as many places as possible, whether or not we are admired. We are so glad to be able to be.”
FRUIT DEVAS
“We fruit devas are a specially joyous bunch, we think! Not only do we produce beautifully scented blossoms but also beautiful tasty fruit, food especially suited for humans, food good for them and which they like. Of all our world we should for these reasons be closest to you humans but it doesn’t work out that way. Generally you don’t even recognise us! But we don’t mind; we keep happy because we could not do our work if we were not happy and probably all our fruit would be sour!
“Being happy is so important and it is a secret which mankind is losing more and more as possessions and power lead him to greater unhappiness. We wish every human being would listen to us and understand that nothing is worth doing unless it is done with joy, that the radiations of motives other than love and joy in an action spoil the results, that the end does not justify the means. We know; we see these things in what you humans do – you know too. If you thought, could you imagine a flower being built out of duty and then sweetening the hearts of all who behold it? No, it would not have the right aura. So we dance through life, creating as we go, and hope you will join us.”
Apple Deva
“I am eternal youth and eternal ripeness; the apple symbolises so much. We think it is of importance in man’s world and are therefore delighted that you are to include us in the garden.
“We would also express our gratitude to the One above all Who has seen fit to put you here and start a garden in this place. In great centres of population we could no doubt grow what is needed but doubt whether we could contact you in such places. Many, many people earn their living through our efforts but not one has the grace to say ‘thank you’ and we would have this contact with you grow firm and withstand much, for it is right and in this world of wrongness it will no doubt have to stand battle. Contact us again, think of us when you eat apples and that will itself help us to grow together. There is so much of good in this wonderful world of our Creator. Let us look at it together.
“I am very glad to have the line of trees in my care. It makes me feel as if I had a long stringed instrument in front of me on which I can play melodies. We like to have variety even in the species, as you have always given us, for this reason, and we know we shall be a strong bulwark of force at this end of the garden. We can extend to you in this garden forces that we could not normally use because they would not be received and this gives us great pleasure. It is a part of our work we so often cannot fulfil. Thank you for your response.”
Gooseberry Deva
“You wonder why we are so light and of the fairy world and yet our work deals with such solids as manure and thorns. We follow a pattern ordained for us and what you call ‘solid’ life is life force to us. We attach value to life according to the purity of the life it contains. How it appears to your senses is according to how you limit yourselves. Nevertheless we hope you will value and enjoy the gooseberries. It will be a pleasure to work in a garden where the range of life is not so limited – and here we talk of radiations and already we have much work to do here.”
Raspberry Deva
“So many humans have connections with us. You have eaten raspberries many many times in your lives and are linked with us through that fact, and many of you, if you turned to us in belief, would know that we are real. But none of you do just that! YOU are doing it and feel an immediate link with your childhood home where you have had your closest contact with raspberries. Life is one, it changes but is part of life, ever growing and emerging as do our plants. We are truly joined in links with the One Source, for which we are ever grateful and towards which we would ever grow.”
Strawberry Deva
“You are a bit downcast because of the rather poor strawberries now being transplanted in a frost. That is not the way to help them! Think only the best for them, think of them as sturdily growing and rooting right now. Surround them with an aura of lightness and goodness, think only the perfect for them. If we paid any attention to conditions, we would produce nothing! It does seem daft when it is you, man, who can control conditions, that you are the ones to expect poor conditions while we, who cannot control them, expect the best and would certainly bring about the best if we could. You can, but you don’t or won’t. Cover the new strawberries with a blanket of warmth and welcome and they will be all right.”
…
“The various strawberries are doing well. A plant in this garden cannot help but do well because of the life forces being poured into it from our side and with your help. You know at times that you feel forms expanded and power seems to pour through? Well, that is our natural state and the power is directed to the plants in this place, for here, with so much on our side, the forces feel free. Therefore the maximum goes to each plant. As we all do our part there is no question of failure. Each of your parts in all this is growing and as power is extended in each, so greater miracles are brought about. As you extend we are enabled to extend because greater forces as a whole are available. By this I mean that as you bring to bear a power in the garden it opens out something in the plants which we can extend, but which we cannot extend until you make the first move, a move we can aid but not initiate. It is a wonderful ONE world and we are glad to be of it and with you.”
HERB DEVAS
“We can indeed speak with one voice and we are more or less awaiting you, for we have been told what happens here and also have our connections with humans. Before you come to us individually, learn more of us in order that you do not have to think and differentiate between us.
“Of course our plants contribute something different and it is good for man to get different varieties, though he does not consider this important. The aromatic plants add something of their own. We range into wavelengths unique in the different smells they portray and our special contribution is that we affect different parts of you right to the physical body. Therefore naturally the wider range of these plants you eat the more balanced help we can give you and your bodies. That all we wish to say now as we add our radiance to the garden.”
Chive Devas
“We are glad the chives have been transferred to your garden where they will receive more loving care and will therefore take on a different aspect. Also we are glad to contact you and to add our radiance to the whole. There is a great mesh of force criss-crossing in the garden, becoming more deeply committed all the time, and we will all add to it and help build it up.”
Marjoram Deva
“It is most pleasing to be here, to come to new soil and new palates and above all to a place where the forces are taken into account. We look forward to a happy work and to contributing.”
Tarragon Deva
“We are pleased to forward our special pungency, to slip in and out in flavour with sharp elusiveness. What fun it will all be!”
Thyme Deva
“We are pleased to join in your venture and contribute our small essence to the whole. We are honoured to have such a strategic position, usually having to be content with a back view! We shall try to fill your air and your dishes with a special fragrance along with our other sister herbs.”
Parsley Deva
“There are various reasons why the parsley has not been up to scratch: the soil, undermining and over picking are some. However let that not subdue us but let us go on to better and better things. I can foresee most lustrous parsley in the garden in the future; that simply must be. If you coax the plants and coax the plants, what can they do but respond? Anyway, the blueprint for lush parsley is in the ethers and will come about.”
TREE DEVAS
“There is a great crowd of our force exulting that you have planted the trees in the garden and opened up so much by so doing. Our forces grounded here will make a great difference to the balance of the whole and although time seems needed for our real influence – a child cannot do what a man can do – we think that with our concentration and your co-operation, we can make the influence strong soon. Anyway we are delighted with today’s developments, absolutely delighted.”
VEGETABLE DEVAS
Aubergine Deva
“We are here waiting for your recognition and are delighted with the experience. It is great to feel our world so consciously united as in this garden.”
Cabbage Deva
“It is good for you to realise the difficulties in spite of which we are developing, for understanding is a bond and therefore a force, a power. A sympathy goes from you to us when you think on these lines and we gain thereby.”
Savoy Deva
“You are having difficulty tonight in contacting me because I seem to appear and disappear into the Cabbage Deva and you cannot feel a ‘personality’. This will happen to you because we do not keep rigid forms and it is good that you do not expect too much and are willing to deal more with intangibles. The Borecole Deva is the same. That does not make our pleasure in coming here any less; it only links us all up more and you almost feel a child of the Cabbage Deva yourself. We are glad of the growing kinship and go our ways in great friendliness.”
Spinach Deva
“As man himself has been affected in the growth of his body by atomic bombs, so have plants. The whole functioning of life on earth is continually upset by man’s chaotic thoughts. There is a network of crazy forces loose in the world – crazy because it has no ordered purpose and is not good – from which we have great difficulty in protecting our plants. This is what caused your spinach plants to mature too soon.
“As your thoughts continually create more order, more sanity, more unity, as they are more and more aligned to the Good, so will the forces in the garden become more aligned themselves and what does not fit in will drop out. This is already happening in your garden more that you realise and as you hold out the perfect, positively, for each plant in the garden, so will it be brought into form. We are able to work most effectively when we have your creative thought with us, protecting and feeding each plant, though perhaps you do not realise how greatly this has already influenced the garden. It is your garden. You are the movers and actors in it, we only help as each seed and plant needs it. The over-all result depends on your inner strength as put forth into the garden. We know only too well the crazy forces around. We are simply telling you what the remedy is.”
Tomato Deva
“You can give the plants some liquid manure now. We are not quite as stupid as you think, to let all the goodness of it be used for developing leaves! When there is co-operation between us like this, we can give instructions, for example, that it is the fruit which is to be developed. Yes, we have our blueprint and automatically we use all the material available to us. If we get too much water for instance, we are water-logged and can do little, but in this garden there is wonderful activity, everything working together on a soil which needs nutriment. We welcome any nutriment and we on this side can have an intelligent co-operation with humans which has not been developed before. Bring us all these problems, for the fact of their being brought to our notice helps us to co-operate, and the fact that we know that you are concerned and working for the best for the plant gives us strength.”
FURTHER ASPECTS OF CREATION
Spirit of Findhorn
“I take my stand with my brothers and we stand tall and one in essence. Immensely vigorous and vital am I, with a role that reaches to four corners of the earth and beyond. I am a new being and we all rejoice that I am. We all rejoice among ourselves in these realms that with the help of all of you has been born and grown to fulfillment one such as I, a prototype of this combined activity. I have been brought up and given sustenance by both the deva and the human world, mothered by the Landscape Angel, energised by you all and planned from near the Godhead.
“Do not form a clear concept of me and so keep me in limitation. My aspect to you has been immensely vital young manhood, to use your terminology, but that is but a small and current view, from the focus of the expansion here at present. I have many parts to play and much to do and we do it together – “we” being you humans and myself as you see me – yet I am more individual and more general than others of my kind, rather a crossbreed.
“Oh what deep breaths of life there are to take from our One Creator! The breadth and the depth and the length of our mutual function is beyond measure and of interest to far beyond your recognition. Here worlds converge – of course, they do in all places of activity on all levels, but you are experimental, I am experimental, we work together. The power of the blessings and help we have is enough to create new worlds; if you were aware of it you could not help but be Christs in action.
“Now I go from your consciousness but I am in you and you are in me, different, yet one. I am the Spirit of a place yet how much more I am. You are limited human beings but you are gods in the making. We are one because we have all been given life.”
God Speaks on Beings of Fire
“My child, I talk to you of those great Beings of Fire in the sun because they are not close enough to earth vibrations for you to contact now. The range of vibrations which they encompass is vast, heat and light you acknowledge but the finer vibrations are beyond human knowledge.
“The angels of fire who wield the fire of the sun for Me can be felt very closely in the rays of the sun. What an immense part they have to play. Nothing can live or grow without warmth and on the opposite side nothing destroys like fire. These beings indeed wield power for Me, across millions of miles of space you still feel it, the warmth of it, and that is only a part of its substance. Apart from what man has discovered and measured in vibrations, there are levels he has not touched, yet which are even more potent, a deep part of life itself, not only a food for life but a generator of life. The beings who manipulate these forces for Me carry on a fingertip something more explosive even than an atom bomb, but with them this power is controlled and used sensitively for Me, for GOOD.”
Sun Being
“I speak with a voice close to that of our One Lord – close but lesser. We are particularly close because under the One we serve to bring your world into the unity of its rightful place. From this sun we reach out and intelligently drawn in your planet to the one scheme of things. This unity is being showered upon your world as never before and we reach and serve in many levels in this same purpose. You respond on many levels and the more joyful that response the greater the unity. There is no response from darkness, yet does darkness absorb us most, as black absorbs heat, and all is one in all worlds.
“We would give you a glimpse of our beneficence, embracing all, and how it is consciously directed to you. This can help you to know the Oneness of all things. All the time there is an uplifting coming from us to your world and you. When you stretch or become aware of what you are, you are also one with that embracing upliftment, one with the power of it, one with the humblest response to it. Lift up your heart and your head and walk in a way made of Light. Be Light – which is what you are – and be it constantly. We are of such, you are of such. Let ALL be of such, all one Light in one Love.”
Angel of Sound
“We are of the Sound Angel branch attending to Light. We are the emissaries on earth of Light and the Sun, to make sure that light is to be revealed by life, and we do this by sound.
“You do not understand this and no wonder, for there are no human minds thinking on this subject. You think of photosynthesis and see no connection with sound. You are dragging down our ideas to a scientific level but nevertheless try and understand that too. You have heard how each plant sounds a note which attracts its builders to it and how each human being has its own note which it may or may not be sounding. These notes have a very potent effect: in the plant it is life because it brings forth substance in itself through the nature spirits; in man it is a thousand times more powerful, for when man really is himself, when he is sounding his own note, that means all parts of his being are in harmony and therefore God can be in him and anything can be done.
“So in that sense sound and light are one and the same; light, life, shines through any being which sounds its own note – and the Sound comes first.
“Humans have sometimes had an inkling of us. Think of the many medieval angels pictured playing instruments or singing; even heaven is supposed to be made up of angels playing harps. You wonder at our functions – for instance the archetypal devas seem powerful enough to sound notes but that is not their job. We sound a note as from a trumpet and the sound goes forth all around like the circular waves from a stone thrown into a pond. The sound is there in the atmosphere but scattered, diffused. We sound it and sound it and the whole atmosphere vibrates with it. It does not become louder, it becomes so intense, so penetrating, that it permeates everything around like mist permeates the air. It is a centre of power. It influences whatever comes into its presence as fire does. Devas which need the quality come and are influenced, add it to their own aura and use it for their own work, for this is one world work and this centre of power is not in a place but always available. This is the work that some of us do forever, for the Great God, sending out His wishes.
“Yet do not limit, this is only one small aspect of creation but a very necessary one.”
Spirit of the Air
“We praise God with air. We stretch from world to world and around each one we give life and bring life and are life. Around each world we are different, perfect for it, making a gift of ourselves for you and anything alive there. In us you flourish, without us you could not be. We are everywhere, unrecognised, so close to God that we exude a part of Him and rejoice and keep on rejoicing. We hold sound in our hands, we promote change, we make tangible to you the warmth of the sun. When you breath us in you breath in the essence of God. We unite you all in the One and we do it consciously.
“Tune finely enough into us and you are aware of many worlds, may lives, life itself. But you cannot do it without recognising the One in whom you live and move and have your being. We are simply one of the means by which you live and move and have your being and we rejoice in it.
“We fill space – the empty spaces and the full spaces – with our rejoicing.
“You ask, as you breathe the air should you give thanks for our part in your life? Let the thanks be given to the Giver of All Things, the One behind all toWhom we direct our thanks. But let thanks be given. You can hear it being given through bird, insect and other life. Join with them in thanksgiving. There are many ways in which to express thanks with ear and mind, in sound and silence.

Report on Visit to The Findhorn Garden by
Professor R. Lindsay Robb on 13th January 1969
The vigour, health and bloom of the plants in this garden at mid-winter on land which is almost barren powdery sand cannot be explained by the moderate dressings of compost, nor indeed by the application of any known cultural methods of organic husbandry. There are other factors and they are vital ones.
Living, as this group are living, on the land, by the land and for the love of the land, is the practical expression of a philosophy which could be the supreme form of wisdom – and freedom.

Report on Visit to The Findhorn Garden by
Miss Armine Wodehouse of the Radionic Association in June 1968
I paid my first visit to Findhorn in June 1968, having heard of the work which was being done there during a course I was attending at Attingham Park.
I was particularly interested to see the results which they were achieving as a result of their co-operation with the Devas and the Nature Forces. I had a certain amount of experience myself in soil treatment, having run a commercial market garden in Wales for twenty years where I had used both organic and orthodox chemical methods. I had also had experience of treating soil radionically with the use of instruments, having treated both my own soil and that of other gardens for some years.
The first thing that struck me at Findhorn was its exposed situation. It was exposed to winds from every quarter with virtually little shelter or windbreak except for a small belt on the west boundary. The second point that struck me was the texture of the soil, which appeared to be pure sand, and on the top of which had been spread compost as a top dressing. In some cases this had also been dug into the top soil as well.
In view of these two factors the crops produced were, in my opinion, little short of remarkable. It was too early for the soft fruit crop but the growth of the strawberry plants was such as to arouse comment in any garden. Aster plants (notoriously thirsty) which had recently been set out into a bed that appeared to have had little added to the original sand appeared to be flourishing as were other moisture-loving plants such as primulas, etc.
I was also considerably impressed by the condition of the beech hedge which is specifically referred to in the Findhorn Garden story. At the time of my visit it have only been planted for about a month yet the losses had been relatively few and the trees forming the hedge had already, in some cases, made new growth.
In my opinion the whole set-up provides an excellent example of what can be achieved by means of constant co-operation with the Devic and Nature Forces. It is also my firm opinion that this co-operation with the Nature Forces will attain increasing importance in the field of agriculture as we proceed further into the New Age, as it is only by actively asking for and obtaining their help and co-operation that man is likely to avoid the results of some of his past follies and his prostitution of the soil over the past half century.
Report on Visit to The Findhorn Garden by
Mrs Elizabeth Murray of the Soil Association in July 1968
I had the pleasure of visiting the Findhorn Bay Caravan Park garden on 18th July 1968, having been invited as an independent organic gardener and member of the Soil Association.
The garden lies on the south west of a shallow and dune and the soil consists of a layer of fine slightly earthy sand under the turf on top of a variable depth of shingle. Any part which is “uncovered” must be mulched at once or the entire top soil would vanish in the wind.
I was impressed at once by the vigour and radiant health of everything which was growing – trees, flowers, fruits and vegetable – far beyond the ordinary. The compost was plentiful but not of very great quality I thought. It was activated by some farmyard manure and watered with the “night” bucket from one of the caravans. All the produce treated with this compost-mulch only, on top of the sand and shingle, was superb. I have never seen anything to compare with it anywhere, not merely for size but for quality and flavour as well. I am quite certain that such results could not have been produced on that soil by good husbandry and compost only, so quickly.
It seemed certain that there must be another factor at work which required an explanation. The explanation given to me by Mr. Caddy according to the account in “the Findhorn Garden”, although entirely strange to me, I must admit I found convincing.
Report on Visit to the Findhorn Garden by
Lady Mary Balfour, in September 1968
I am just an ordinary gardener of the organic school and these notes are based on a mere 24 hours spent at Findhorn.
My brief visit was in September 1968. The weather throughout was mild, grey and at times wet. Yet in retrospect I see that garden in brilliant sunshine without a cloud in the sky. This can only have been due to the extraordinary brilliance of the flowers in bloom. And they all seemed to be in bloom! The flower beds were a compact mass of colour and form in great variety. The effect was riotous, but weedless; free but harmonious. I stooped to handle and examine the soil, a thickish layer of half-ripe compost lay mulching the rather grimy, too fine sand below. To my eye and touch, it was indeed pure sand of the most un-promising quality. There was as yet no perceptible amalgamation of sand and compost though doubtless the rain and soil population were already doing their magical work of redemption.
Feeling not a little awestruck, I turned from bed to bed, noting how cunningly these were placed around the human habitations (the beautifully appointed Trust caravans). These were scattered as though haphazard, breaking up the whole into a variety of attractive vistas as well as providing shady corners and some shelter from the sea gales.
At this point the Custodian joined me and we went into the kitchen garden, also a young venture but older than the flower garden. The soft fruit had been wonderful judging by the size and vigour of the plants; raspberries, blackberries, loganberries, grown as a windbreak on one side of the vegetable plot. On the further side cordon fruit trees broke the wind – many of them loaded with fruit.
Even the most chemically-minded growers will admit that some folk have ‘green fingers’ – folk that can break the rules and still make plants flourish. Why? How? Wouldn’t we like to know! Could that be just what the gardeners at Findhorn are beginning to learn?
If so, I would say they had the right sort of attitude: a veneration for Life, unhampered by preconceived notions about growing things – a willingness to labour for love and the belief that dedication to Life’s service will lead to all else – including divine abundance and financial support.
As I see it, they are a team of honest Under Gardeners, filled with courage and faith, intent on receiving and carrying out the directions of their highly qualified advisers – Beings in the Spirit world who offer their expert ‘know how’ gratis, in the name of the divine Giver of Life – IF MAN ASKS FOR IT. What a stupendous offer!
Life in all its wonder, is a free gift. A free gift to every living being. How grossly – how appallingly – man has abused that gift! Is it not time that more of us regarded Life as sacred and worthy of our utmost respect? Time we acknowledged our ignorance about It? Sought humbly to learn of It? Instead of claiming a mastership that – as yet – we in no way deserve?
Message through Independent Source
The following pertinent message was received quite independently in June 1968 through a sensitive before visiting Findhorn.
“This co-operation with the devas and nature spirits is the work of the future but it has to be approached with very great care because it can only be done in Brotherhood with all life under the Christ. It is essential, if the soil of this earth is to be saved, that their co-operation should and must be sought. The devas and nature spirits have endured much at the hand of man. They have endured poisons being poured into the soil to produce a forced fertility rather than a natural growth and they have endured poisons being poured into the soil to destroy what man is pleased to call pests, and these are merely creatures who have as much right to life as he has but who tend to increase and multiply because of his methods of husbandry, because he is doing this the wrong way. They have endured poisons falling from the atmosphere as radioactive dust; they have endured poisons being poured into the atmosphere from factory chimneys and from rockets in space, but the time is now getting short and the sands are running out, if they are not to rise in fury against what man is doing to them.
“This can only be done through love and we would urge that you approach these kingdoms with love and humility. For too long man has shown only arrogance and pride in his so-called knowledge. His knowledge is not as great in some fields as that of the ant, but he prides himself that he has all the answers to all the problems, and he is only just beginning to find out that he only on the very fringe and that his knowledge is in one field and one field only. Man is very satisfied in his particular field and he thinks he knows. It is only when he begins to get frightened, when he finds that he does not know, that he will be ready to turn to other sources for the knowledge which he so badly needs. If you approach the devas and nature spirits with love and brotherhood you will get their co-operation, they will pour their benefits into your lap – but if man in his stupidity should try to harness them, that could only bring devastation in its wake. When they are approached with love and brotherhood and gentleness – and with laughter, because they laugh much – they will hold nothing back from you.”
TO PAN, SPIRIT OF NATURE
by
Kathleen Fleming
Out of the dimensions of all nature
Pan rose before me mightily
Condensed in form to let my wide-eyed wonder
See……………
His fur dressed haunches curved sky scraping upwards
The pungent scent of pine and moss and peat
– Herbal and healthy – warm like bliss,
And brushwood crackling gently
From little creatures safe within
Flowed around him endlessly.
“I am the form of all primeval things”
He spoke with flashing eyes, yet lovingly,
And sound in vastness terrifying swept through my mind.
The eddying movements of life’s energies
Hummed all around until
The air swirled like a spinning top
I saw all nature grow and swell
Expand beyond expansion in tensility,
Become diminutive as red geraniums in an alien pot.
And then Pan spoke to me.
“You humans labour at the small
Pick at the mean,
And lose the whole.
This form is but an aspect of myself
The greater merely garbed within the less.
No evil force am I, nor evil can I be
Though loaded with man’s debts
He mocks and makes a mockery of me,
Evil is but the level where his thoughts take rest
Before they travel onward into good.”
In front of me he tore the mountains from their earthy base
And wrapped them round his shoulders like a shawl, yet
With his slender pipes in melody he shook the lily bells
Upon their threads of green
And scented all the air with subtlety.
He cause emotive earth to split and groan
And up-rise into hills and sink
Down-graded to the valley slopes,
While fringes of green grass dripped dew drops on his fur
And fed his eyes with liquid light.
All this I saw – and more – it was no dream.
Between us two questions formed
And hung from the deep crevices of mind
“I come to you, are you afraid of me?”
Such truth was in his eyes
Such boundless suffering love I stepped towards him
Touching his bright fur in fearless wonder.
“You serve creation and Creator both, that is enough for me.”
Were these my words or his?
I do not know,
I only know we wished it so.
Pan spoke again with gravity.
“I poison not the earth, nor spray the trees,
Nor confine animals or take away their ease
Nature’s economy is law, not greed.
How balance I the earth except by balance?
Absorbing all excretia, all ugly things within myself –
And Beauty too!
Dissolve your bodies bones and flesh and blood Into the dust
That grows your nourishment for future years.
Tell mortal man how much I crave his love
I need co-operation here and now,
Not soon or sometime as so many think
Or my sweet world will burst its ravaged earth
And give what it’s received.
For this I grieve and grieve.
Awake, awake the soul of man for me.”
Pan gazed at me all heaven in his eyes
Then clicked his shining hooves
Sparking the fire from nearby stones
And then unrolled across the lightening sky
The colours of the dawn.
The great trees bowed, the waters gushed and rushed
In frantic joy.
And all that lived within his mighty self rejoiced
Leaving the savour of forgotten things
Renewed within my heart.
I echoed his trumpet voice
Echoing down the winds of God
“The new age dawns, have eyes to see
Awake awake the soul of man for me.”
