In a momentous announcement on the 26th July, the Findhorn Foundation stated that it will enter a phase of restructuring of the organisation and its activities going forward. You can read the full statement here.

The whole Community – locally and globally – is shifting. As old structures are dying new ones are emerging. Let us link up to form strong bonds, to hold each other in compassion and to support us all in moving forward, implementing the values and wisdom of our founding principles ever more.

This is history in the making and our collective autobiography is poised to receive all relevant stories. Click here to read more about Honouring Release and Regeneration – 2023.

We have dedicated three separate post to the different aspects of this honouring:

Creative Expressions, Inner Work, Reflections

This post collates offerings, as well as links to stories, regarding Inner Work to honour this time of release and regeneration, as we reflect on 51 years of the Findhorn Foundation and celebrate what is emerging.

Eileen Caddy – Opening Doors Within 3rd August

When one door closes, another one opens – click arrow on left to read more

When one door closes, another one opens. Expect that new door to reveal even greater wonders and glories and surprises. Always expect the very best from every situation, and see the very best come out of each one.
Never become depressed or despondent as you see one door close in your face. Simply know that all things work together for good for those souls who truly love me and put me first in everything.
Feel yourself grow and expand as you go thorough every experience, and look for the reason for it. Learn by it, and be determined never to make the same mistake twice, if you have made a seeming mistake, for much can come out of it when you do not allow it to get you down.
Your whole attitude towards life is very important, therefore realise that life is what you make it. Make it a wonderful, joyous, exciting life where anything can happen at any moment because you are doing my will.

Mary Inglis is offering three meditations:

Inner Work reflection on the Findhorn Foundation: The Findhorn Foundation has been a large and consistent presence in the lives of all of us in the Community, whether or not we have personally been part of it ourselves. We all to different degrees have helped shape it and been shaped by it… as have thousands of others throughout the world who have visited as guests or lived and contributed here as members and co-workers. We have all been touched by the Foundation. We are all in some ways part of its body and soul. As its presence as we have known it leaves our lives, it would be helpful to spend time reflecting on our connections with it, recognising and celebrating its gifts and contributions and what we have gained, acknowledging and maybe forgiving faults and mis-steps and hurts, and honouring the essence at its core and the ways in which it has sought to express that essence, however expertly or inexpertly that has been done. This can help clear and open our collective field to what is now seeking to emerge. There are many ways in which we might do this. Here is one:

Inner Work reflection on the Findhorn Foundation – please click the arrow on the left to open the text for the meditation.

• Take some time to come present to the beingness of the Findhorn Foundation, to your felt sense of its beingness, past and present… and to the ensouling presence that has generated it…
• How have you been touched by it; how have your energies been interwoven with it?
What is or has been your relationship and engagement with it?
How has that shaped you?
How does that live in you?
What is your energetic connection with it?
Maybe do an energy sketch or drawing which represents that… or find a movement or gesture which expresses that energetic connection
• What have you gained from your connection with the Foundation?
What have you received?
What have you given?
How have you helped shape it?
How has it grown you?
What has come out of that connection and collaboration?
• What judgements or disappointments have arisen for you over time, that you’ve had in the past or that you are currently holding?
What do you want to do with these now?
Is there any healing or release that needs to happen?
Are there actions that need to be taken?
• Then move into a deeper inner space, a space of safety, inspiration, connectedness, your inner sanctuary or source place, that place where you are most deeply connected with the life and light and sacredness at the heart of all things…
and invite the Being or the Angel of the Foundation to join you there…
Spend time together… notice what impressions arise…
Maybe something wants to happen or be communicated…

• Then, if it feels comfortable, let yourself shapeshift and become that Being, so for a while you become one with it and perceive from its perspective…
What is that like? How does that feel? …
What needs to be said or communicated from this perspective and space?
…………………
• When you feel ready, step back into yourself, into the shared space with the Being or Angel of the Foundation…
What interaction or communication needs to happen now?…
• When you feel complete, step out of the shared space and into the arena of your everyday life, with gratitude for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the wellbeing and evolution of this whole Findhorn Community and of the world.

The Sphere Exercise for the Findhorn Community. This is an adaptation of an exercise David Spangler created recently for holding the United States in the run-up to Independence Day on July 4th. It is one of connecting with the Soul or Angel of the USA and together holding the sphere of incarnation of the US and honouring it as an instrument of Light. Since then a number of people have adapted the exercise for different situations, and our process here uses it to focus on the sphere of incarnation of the Findhorn Community, past, present and future.

Settle into your body, acknowledging and appreciating your presence here today,
settling into the stillness and light at the heart of yourself and at the heart of all things.
Acknowledge and appreciate also the place you are in, and all it holds, both physical and non-physical.

Attune to the presence of your soul, however you imagine or envision that…
The love and will and intentionality of the seed or soul essence that generates you into this time and space …
Into this web of connections and relationships…
Into the body of the Findhorn Community…
Which in turn is generated by the love and will and intentionality of the ensouling presence of the Findhorn Angel…the presence that holds the essence and promise and potential of this Community and its unique contribution to the world.
Sense yourself in resonance with the Angel of Findhorn, part of its body, sustained by and sustaining it…

Imagine yourself holding a crystal bell between your hands, a crystal ball that is clear and translucent.

See this ball as containing everything that is the Findhorn Community, from its birth nearly 61 years ago when Peter, Eileen and Dorothy and the three Caddy boys towed their caravan onto the Findhorn Bay Caravan Park where it still rests today…
Through the development of the gardens around the caravan, Dorothy’s contact with the devas, Roc’s connection with Pan and the nature spirits, Eileen’s nightly meditations in the toilet block.
Through the arrival of others drawn here, the gradual building of the bungalows, the Sanctuary and the community centre, the gifted purchase of the Park building and the land around it, the building of the Publications Building, now housing Dev Com.
The creation of the Findhorn Foundation as a charity, the influx of people after Paul Hawken wrote The Magic of Findhorn, the purchase of Cluny and the expansion of guest programmes.
The custodianship of Traigh Bhan on Iona, and of the island of Erraid.
The building of the Universal Hall, and the growth of what was known as the wider community around the Findhorn Foundation, the growth of the eco-village.
The purchase of the Caravan Park, the proliferation of other related ventures and businesses
The development of the Field of Dreams… Duneland, Soillse and the Whins…the Hinterland and Green Burial ground,
The establishment of relationships with other communities and ecovillages around the world…
The pandemic and the contraction of Foundation staff… the fires that destroyed the Community Centre and Sanctuary… the ongoing regeneration and the evolution of new forms.

See/sense the ball containing all the presences and beings that make up this centre today…
The physical presences of people, plants, birds, insects, buildings, spaces…
And the non-physical presences, the elementals, nature spirits, devas, angels, all the beings and presences that engage with and support and contribute to this community and its place and contribution within the whole earth community at this time.

Hold all this in the crystal ball, everything from those early beginnings to the present time. In effect, the crystal ball you are holding in your hands contains the whole incarnation of the Findhorn Community as a unique being. Don’t focus so much on specifics, or the successes or failures it contains, just have a felt sense that “I am holding in my hands and in my heart the incarnation, the body, the presence, of the Findhorn Community.” This is not a mental exercise, but a felt sense one.

Chances are the content of this ball will be mixed, a swirl of light and darkness, lovely in places, muddy in others. It’s the energetic presence of everything the Findhorn Community is and that it has experienced, inspired, and manifested throughout its life.

Think of this ball as a crystal whose intent is to receive and focus Light into the world. It’s a means through which the blessings and Light of the Sacred, passing through this collective field, enter the world of humanity and nature.

Imagine Light swirling within this ball, clearing away any muddiness or darkness, repairing frayed edges, restoring and renewing coherence… and turning the whole incarnational field into a clear crystal of Light…

Nothing can obstruct or resist this Light. As the sphere clears, imagine the Light of the Sacred passing into and through this crystal ball of the Community in an unobstructed manner, shining in your hands as it radiates Light into the world.

You and the Angel of Findhorn are already in resonance, allies in holding the Community and its unique presence and contribution in the world. You can invite any other allies you wish to add their Light, but remember, it is the pure Light of the Sacred that is illuminating and radiating from the ball.

For the next while, hold this field and image clearly, strongly, and with joy…
……

We’re going to bring this process to a close now…
Focus once again on the crystal ball shining in your hands.
Then when you are ready, toss it up into the air and let it dissolve into Light, dissipating like crystal rain of light into the world around you.

Then in your own timing bring your energy and attention back to yourself, acknowledging and thanking all who have been part of this process. Thank the Angel of Findhorn, knowing that we and the Community continue to be held in the love and wisdom of its presence, knowing also that we continue to be held in the love and wisdom of our own souls, and in their unfolding presence in our individual and collective lives. Feel yourself grounded in your body, located in your particular environment, balanced and whole, and when you are ready, open your eyes and return your awareness to your room.

Open Space Exercise for Findhorn Community
In this meditation we are holding a field of spaciousness around the various groups and individuals who hold responsibility for aspects of our collective well-being and future. We will connect also with the Angel of Findhorn and the Spirit of the Future, to create and hold a field in which new consciousness and new forms can emerge, and in which strands of connection can be woven and interwoven in ways that serve the whole community and its contribution to the world.

Take a moment to bring yourself present to yourself, with appreciation and gratitude for the presence you bring. Bring yourself present to the space around you, with gratitude and appreciation for its holding of you. And then settle into the stillness and light at the heart of yourself, to connect with those of us gathered here, both physical and non-physical, and with the work we are coming together to do.

Imagine yourself standing in a room that is comfortable and familiar for you, a room that has a window through which you can see the world.

Look out this window and see something that brings you happiness. It could be a person, an animal, an object, a place, a situation – something personal to you. As you look at it through the window, feel the impact of that happiness within yourself. Feel your heart expand and glow. Feel your body relaxing; feel the warm pleasure of happiness flowing through your body.

Experience this happiness flowing into your legs, giving you a sense of stability and energy… Feel it filling your abdomen … collecting and overflowing in your heart… filling your mind… Let it align you with an inner joy that transcends earthly causes and pressures: a joy of life, a joy of being, a joy that lies at the heart of existence … Experience this joy coming alive within you… then expanding to create an open space all around you…

Connect with any images that might represent this open space to you… maybe somewhere in nature, some place on earth… Connect with an image or space that represents and holds this energy of open space for you… It doesn’t have to be a visual picture; it can also be a sensation, a feeling, or a sense of presence… maybe a combination of all those things.

As you connect with this place or space or image, experience and feel the power of its openness, the power of this presence of spaciousness. Sense it in your body, your feelings, your mind.

Draw this power and energy of spaciousness and openness into your heart and your centre of gravity. Draw it into yourself so that you embrace it, embody it, encompass it…

Now open your eyes and extend this sense of open space to whatever you see about you. Feel and see what is around you held and embraced in spaciousness. You are not projecting a power at anything. Rather, you’re holding and enveloping it in a liberating, inviting, open space that is itself powerful…

Now close your eyes again and imagine a friend. Embrace and hold this friend in the same spaciousness. You’re not doing anything to this friend. You are only seeing them in a spaciousness in which they can relax, stretch and expand under the wisdom and guidance of their own inner intelligence and spirit…

Now imagine someone you don’t like. Your inner spaciousness is large enough, and liberated enough to embrace that person as well. Surround them with spaciousness. You’re not trying to change them, or make them different, or make them be like you. Just see them embraced in a loving, hospitable open space that offers them room to expand, transform and feel liberated, guided by their own inner intelligence and spirit.

Now relax again into this presence of spaciousness and openness. Maybe reconnect with the place or space that represents and holds the energy of open space for you, and sense it again in your body.

And this time open also to the presence of the Angel of Findhorn and the ensouling presence that moves through this centre… as well as all those beings and energies engaging with and holding and blessing this community – its core essence, its well-being, its purpose and promise and potential. All who hold and nurture the well-being of all involved, human & non-human, organic & inorganic, physical & subtle.

As we open to them, sense how the field of spaciousness that you are holding and that we are holding together expands and deepens.

And within that spaciousness, now open also to the spirit of the future, the call of the future, the seeds of the future that are held within and are germinating within this spaciousness. Let the energy of the seeds of the future touch and live within you, and within this field of spaciousness.

Now let that spaciousness embrace the whole field of our community, holding it in a space that nurtures the spirit of wholeness and the spirit of the future that is seeking to manifest both internally and externally. Hold the community in a spaciousness that allows all involved, yourself included, to relax, expand, transform and unfold under the wisdom and guidance of their own inner intelligence and spirit, and the wisdom and guidance of the spirit of the community and the Angel of Findhorn.

And now turn our attention particularly to different groups in the community who hold a focus for different aspects of our collective…

As I name each group, connect with the function of the group, as far as you know it, and with the individuals involved with it. If you can, bring those individuals present in your awareness and imagination, and hold them in the field of spaciousness, not trying to change them or make them be different in a way you maybe feel they should be…. Just surrounding and embracing them in this loving, hospitable open space that offers them room to relax, expand, to connect with deeper levels of inner and outer listening, to open to and engage with the spirit and seeds of the future, and to unfold, guided by the wisdom of the inner intelligence and spirit that moves through them, through the Angel of Findhorn, and through the ensouling presence that moves through this centre.

The NFA Council… the Findhorn Foundation… Park Ecovillage Trust… New Findhorn Directions… Ecovillage Findhorn… Ekopia… THA… Local Place Plan Group… Collaboration Circle… others groups that come into your awareness (too many to name) and the individuals involved with them… See and hold them too in this spaciousness in which they can relax, stretch and expand under the wisdom and guidance of the inner intelligence and spirit that moves through them, their ventures, and the community.

Finally, embrace yourself in the spaciousness. Step fully into your own open space. Experience yourself held in that loving hospitable generous space that offers you room to expand, transform and feel liberated, that nurtures the seeds of the future as they live within you, that enables you to connect with and be guided by your own inner intelligence and spirit. Feel its impact upon you. Feel the places where you begin to unwind, unstick, stretch, expand and flow again. Let your body relax in the hospitality of that open space… for a few moments just rest in that space.

When you feel ready, take a couple of deep breaths, open your eyes and step out of your imaginal space and return your attention to this present time and to the space you are in, feeling grounded, balanced, with a feeling of being refreshed, regenerated and in harmony.

William Martin – Earth School for Celestial Mechanics: Lesson 1, How to Work with the Angel of Findhorn

One of the main impulses which arises from contact with the Angel of Findhorn is to join, or create, a group. Yet it is a group that is not led by a traditional style of leader, but by the group wisdom. The willingness and ability to tap into group wisdom and honour the insights that emerge (and express this in action) are one of the hallmarks of the energy from that angel. This is one of the things that makes the Angel of Findhorn so attractive to so many and why it has global relevance and global reach. Learning to work together for a higher purpose is one of the primary lessons of our time.
