Arriving Summer 1989 in Findhorn for my “Experience week” and a “Sacred dance” workshop it became clear to me very soon that this was a magical place, a place for me to live, to love, to learn. It felt like the Spirit of Findhorn was inviting me to dance with it. Now I have lived here in Findhorn for nearly 33 years and for 30 of them I worked for the Findhorn Foundation. My work ranged from dancing the kitchen dance (learning to cook for up to 250 people) to being part of the management team, co-organsing the Sacred dance festival for 27 years, welcoming new arrivals in the visitor centre to focalising Experience Weeks, the introductory week into the community; “Changing the world from inside out” to leading long term memberships programmes from FYP (Foundation year programme) to LEAP (Living education apprentice programme) and before my redundancy I was the focaliser of the Iona team and custodian of Traigh Bhan holding retreats. Since then I became a NFA councillor in April 2022. I volunteer in Cullerne garden, continue to lead Taize and dance every Tuesday evening with the Sacred dance group.
I had the privilege in September 2022 to be trained in the new format of the now 5 day long Experience week and was co-focalizing 6 weeks until August 2023. And even though I was initially skeptical about the shorter version I changed my mind during the first week I was focalising seeing that the participants still had a very powerful experience of the transformative power and magic of Findhorn.
And out of this experience re-awakened in me the idea to offer a similar experience to our community in a slightly different setup. I noticed that since COVID lots of new people had joined the community without the opportunity to engage deeply with the spiritual principles, values and ethics of the Findhorn community. In the past the FF provided this service through the Experience week and other Core programmes.
And whenever talking with “newcomers” I sensed a deep longing to experience the magic of Findhorn and explore the spiritual principles. However family and work commitments might make it very challenging to carve out a whole week. So the proposal to offer 4 consecutive Saturdays was rekindled. It’s not a new idea and has been surfacing several times over the last 25 years but has never been put into practice.
And here are some aspects we hope to offer:
- Discover how the core practices can support your daily life.
- Awaken to a deeper connection with nature around us.
- Explore the history of our community and its four founders.
- Connect with our Common Ground community agreements.
- Bond with a group of like-hearted friends, in a safe and intimate sharing space where you can be your true self.
- Learn from each other and from community members.
- Laugh a lot and have fun!
With love and blessings Hanna

I am an eldest daughter with a sister and brother who died last year. I love dancing and singing and wild swimming. I am a passionate cook and reader. And love being in Nature, walking, riding my bike.
This feels like such a great idea, and one that could expand into multi-day immersions and experiences. Yay!
Thank you Geoff. Dell and I have a lot of fun to deepen participants connections to the 3 principles of the Findhorn community and to learn how they are still relevant respectively even more in this challenging and exciting times of transformation. Love Hanna
